New Releases for December

The cold weather is upon us here in the northern hemisphere . . . which means I’m ready for Spring. Okay, okay, I do enjoy curling up under a nice warm blanket while reading a good romance, but still. I am not a fan of freezing cold weather. Give me shorts, a tank top, and flip flops any day. But, December does feature my favorite holiday, Christmas. I just love Christmas! It fills me with such joy to watch my kids’ faces light up as they open their presents. It also is a day that my husband is always off and we spend the entire day with my family. I almost always receive books and/or bookstore gift cards, so I’m a happy camper. :) What are some of the best presents you’ve ever received?

And once again, it’s time for new releases! Which December releases have you read? Of those, which ones do you recommend? Which ones are you most looking forward to reading? Tell us and one lucky commenter will win a book I picked up from this year’s RWA conference!

Until January, happy reading!

  1. wow, There are so many great books to read this month. And some of them has been on my radar (to win *g*)

    I'm sooo looking forward to read ;
    - The Duke’s Night of Sin – Kathryn Caskie
    - One Night in Scotland – Karen Hawkins
    - Matched – Ally Condie
    - When the Stars Go Blue – Caridad Ferrer
    - Unforgivable – Laura Griffin
    - In the Dark of Dreams – Marjorie M. Liu

  2. Andrea

    I too love Christmas and of course here in Oz it is warming up although we have had a week of rain and today was very humid. One of my wishes is to spend Christmas with my family of course in the Northern hemisphere at least once LOL.

    Over the years I have had many special Christmas's and lots of wonderful presents and as I now have 5 grandchildren the best is watching them with their presents on Christmas morning nothing better.

    There are some great books being released this month and there are a lot on my wish list I do hope I get some gift cards to get them. I haven't read any of them yet.

    Have Fun

  3. I haven't read any yet, but am looking forward to Allison's "Outrageously Yours" and Jo's "Ride the Fire."

  4. Lots of great books this month! I'm looking forward to the ones by Sophie Jordan and Teresa Medeiros.

  5. Good morning, mariska! That's a great list! I have Karen Hawkins's on mine, too. *g*

  6. Helen, I couldn't imagine it being sweltering hot during Christmas. I used to live in Florida and there were days when we could wear shorts in December, but it was never extremely hot. Does the weather ever affect your baking?

    And I can totally relate about watching kids open their presents. There is just something really quite special in that. And that's exactly why I have a camera attached to my wrist the entire day! LOL

  7. Jane, I've had several people (including the other Dishes) recommend Jo's Firestation series and I've yet to read them. Hopefully many books, so little time... :)

  8. Trisha, I have both of those, so you can read them when you come home. And I can't wait to read them either! *g*

  9. Cathy Maxwell, Gayle Callen, Karen Hawkins the Kate Hoffmann anthology, Joanne Rock, Kasey Michaels, Sophie Jordan, Kathryn Caskie are all authors I'd love to read in December.
    I haven't read any new releases yet!

  10. Wow, another great list of releases coming out this month! So far, the only one high on my list at the moment is KC's The Duke's Night of Sin. I am also looking forward to Laura Lee Guhrke's Wedding of the Season and JQ, Eloisa, and Connie Brockway's The Lady Most Likely coming out at the end of the month, but I think they are technically Jan. releases. But right now, I am just trying to catch up on my TBR list-I'm just now starting Lisa Kleypas's Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor!

    As always, thanks for putting this list together for us, Andrea! :)

  11. I did not realize how many great authors had books out this month. I haven't read any of them but I want to read the stories out by Laurel McKee, Nicola Cornick, Stehpanie Tyler, Joanne Rock and a bunch more that I can't remember.

  12. Lots of good ones this month. (You must feel like Santa Claus, trotting out this list!) I’m most looking forward to the books by Lynsay Sands, Kieran Kramer, Allison Chase and Kathryn Caskie.

  13. The TBR pile just keeps growing & growing. My December list:

    On the way/must get:
    -The Duke’s Night of Sin – Kathryn Caskie
    -One Night in Scotland – Karen Hawkins
    -Highland Protector – Hannah Howell
    -Wicked Nights with a Lover – Sophie Jordan
    -Taken by Desire – Lavinia Kent

    Sounds good/may have to give in:
    -A Most Scandalous Engagement – Gayle Callen
    -Pleasures of a Notorious Gentleman – Lorraine Heath
    -Lords of Passion – Virginia Henley, Kate Pearce, Maggie Robinson

    I'm sure if I look closer at the books coming out, I'd find more to add to that list which is getting long enough already. Dear Santa -- along with the books, please bring extra time to enjoy them ;)

  14. Goodnight, Tweetheart sounds very different from anything I've read.

  15. I haven't had a chance to read any of the December releases yet. Although I'd love to read just about every book on the list, I'm most looking forward to:
    Alien Tango – Gini Koch
    Stranger – Zoë Archer
    Hungry for You – Lynsay Sands
    The Duke’s Night of Sin – Kathryn Caskie
    Wicked Nights with a Lover – Sophie Jordan
    In the Dark of Dreams – Marjorie M. Liu

  16. Hope I am not too late!

    I read and LOVED His Christmas Pleasure (my review is at The Season and at my blog) by Cathy Maxwell.

    Also enjoyed Night of the Vampires by Heather Graham. A historical/Paranormal!

    Hoping to read the new Nicola Cornick and Karen Hawkins!

  17. What a great list of authors, Laurie! I hope you get to read them soon!

  18. It's my pleasure, Lisa! I gobbled up Lisa Kleypas's latest. It's a great story and my only complaint is that I wanted to read more! LOL Oh, and I'm looking forward to JQ's anthology and LLG's upcoming, too!!

  19. Hi, Maureen! Doesn't it seem as if every month there's more and more to choose from? Which is, of course, good for us!

  20. LOL, LSUReader! I do feel a bit like Santa! I bought Kieran Kramer's while running errands yesterday. Can't wait to read it!

    Oh my gosh, tell me about it. I now have two TBR piles. One is my "regular" TBR pile (which is for books that I'll eventually get to) and the other is my "immediate" TBR pile (which is for those that I must read at my earliest convenience). ;-)

  22. runner10, I agree! I'll be reading it next and am looking forward to it. :)

  23. Barbara, Sophie Jordan's is one that I placed in my "immediate" TBR pile. I always look forward to a Sophie Jordan book!

  24. You're never too late, Karyn! Cathy Maxwell is one that never disappoints. Her books are just as lovely as she is!

  25. Yet again an enormous amount of books that I'm dying to read. My top 3 wishlist would be:

    Mail-Order Groom – Lisa Plumley
    Biting the Bride – Clare Willis
    His Christmas Pleasure – Cathy Maxwell

  26. I'm looking forward to reading One Night in Scotland by Karen Hawkins and Unforgivable by Laura Griffin.

  27. What I've read:
    - "The Duke's Night of Sin" by Kathryn Caskie - I like Siusan in this one way more than I did Ivy in the last one.

    What I'm looking forward to reading:
    - "Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right" by Kieran Kramer
    - "His Christmas Pleasure" by Cathy Maxwell
    - "Goodnight Tweetheart" by Teresa Medeiros
    - "Stranger" by Zoë Archer
    - "The Duke & the Pirate Queen" by Victoria Janssen

  28. Way too many good looking books in this list. I'll never get caught up.

  29. New Julia Quinn in December. Woo hoo!!!

  30. Hi, Kirsten! That Lisa Plumley book looks really good, doesn't it? The title itself makes me want to read it!

  31. Good morning, chey! Another vote for Karen Hawkins!

  32. Hey there, Sheree! Isn't the cover for the Victoria Janssen book gorgeous?

  33. LOL @ librarypat! Tell me about it...

  34. Daz, makes you say you can't wait until after Christmas, huh? LOL

  35. Haven't read any of these releases yet

    The December 2010 Releases I hope to acquire first include:

    1. The Duke’s Night of Sin (Kathryn Caskie) {Book Three of The "Seven Deadly Sins" Series (want first)}
    2. Marry Me (Jo Goodman) {Love her books}
    3. One Night in Scotland (Karen Hawkins) {A friend and I are on a Karen Hawkins reading binge}
    4. Taken by Desire (Lavinia Kent) {Figured this one could join the other two I have on my TBR list}

    Romantic Suspense
    1. Ride the Fire (Jo Davis) {Book Five of "Firefighters of Station Five" Series (want second)}
    2. Unforgivable (Laura Griffin) {Like her previous books}

  36. Welcome to the blog, Wolf Bear! Yay, another Jo Goodman fan! Jo's latest is the one I am most looking forward to in December. Her writing is superb and I'm so happy that she's not afraid to tackle taboo subjects. Hope you enjoy it! :)

  37. Loving Alien Tango as we, type.
    Also really loved Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and Double Cross by Carolyn Crane.
