6th Anniversary Celebration - - Color My World

Remember the days when you would spend hours sitting at the kitchen table or curled up in a bean bag chair with a coloring book and a box of crayons or colored pencils? Well, those days aren't as far in your past as you may think. Inspired by Diana Gabaldon's bestselling books and the STARZ original series, Outlander (who doesn't love Jamie?) and George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and HBO's Game of Thrones, Penguin Random House has published two beautiful coloring books designed just for us!

THE OFFICIAL OUTLANDER COLORING BOOK (Bantam Trade Paperback - Oct. 27, 2015 - $16.95) is a beautifully bound 10 x 10 inch book containing 45 original black and white illustrations inspired by scenes from Outlander. Accompanying each illustration is description of  - or passage from - the scene depicted.

THE OFFICIAL A GAME OF THRONES COLORING BOOK (Bantam Trade Paperback - October 27, 2015 - $16.95 also contains 45 exclusive illustrations depicting scenes from the popular HBO series. Drawn by world-renowned illustrators, this will be a treasured keepsake for fans of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire as well as HBO's Game of Thrones.

The illustrations in both coloring books are incredibly beautiful and detailed, including pictures ranging in coloring skill level from beginner to I-need-an-art-degree-to-do-that. So, no matter how skilled - or unskilled - you may be, there's something for you in each of these books. The list price is $16.95 but if you're an Amazon Prime member, the price is $10.17. Considering the quality of both the illustrations as well as the construction of the book itself, it really is a worthy purchase at either price.

Do you enjoy coloring?

Are you a beginner (like me) or are your coloring projects worthy of framing?

Are you counting down the days until the return of Outlander?

Do you think Jamie should be required to remove his shirt in every episode? (Yeah, I do too.) *grin*

One randomly chosen person leaving a comment before 11:59 pm (EST) Thursday, November 5th will receive the Outlander coloring book and a second person will receive the Game of Thrones coloring book.

Many thanks to Penguin Random House for the giveaway copies!

  1. YES, I do! (And crafting and relaxing of all kinds!) and my color rendering come out looking as shoddy as when I gave up coloring as a child, so no, not framing anything, but I love coloring books of things I love! (I have a Harry Potter one...and an Avengers one...good times.)

I am SO looking forward to the next season; and YESYESYES, that should be a requirement. In fact, I have a new coworker who I get to train--and I was telling her about Outlander and she got sucked into the premise I was explaining--and I told her how to get the copy from the library to watch...and she watched almost all over them last week from part 1 of season 1--so our conversations have been FUN. I can't wait until she sees part 2. We have SO MUCH to discuss. Anyway, if I win, we'll have to color together while we're training. *LOL* I hope there are several shirtless Jamie's in the coloring book.

  3. Yes please! It would be great to have to destress after a long day of taking care of the twins and pumping every 2 hours. Plus, just beautiful! I've been wanting to try "adult coloring" for a while now.

    1. With infant twins, you need some de-stressing activities in your life. On the other hand, what a wonderful blessing to have two precious babies!

    1. I'm sure there are many parents who have colored with their kids over the years. It's nice to have "adult" illustrations of our very own.

  7. Glad to see that they've come out with coloring books for adults. I used to love it as a child--loved getting a new box and keeping them neat in their boxes. I was always sure to stay within the lines. Maybe, I should "go back to my childhood" and color when I need to relax. :)

  8. I am loving this new trend of coloring books for adults. I even bought some cool Prismacolor color pencils to use when I have time. I loved coloring as a kid. It's relaxing. And I think it's really smart to make Outlander and Game of Thrones coloring books, as they both enjoy huge fan bases, including me.

  12. Coloring was my favorite thing to do. My youngest daughter loved it too. But when she hit 7th grade I thought we were too old for coloring books and to this day she is still mad at me for stopping. I wish I hadn't. Good news is that she is an artist :) Now that the books are popular again, she keeps reminding me that I should be coloring! As to Outlander, I started collecting the books thinking it was only going to be a few books. I've now bought most of them but she is still writing so I really need to start them but because I haven't read the books yet, I've not watched the show. I KNOW!!!!

    1. LOL! You're going to have to start eventually, you know. ;-)

I'm probably one of the few people on the planet who hasn't read the books. You do have company.

  13. I have not started coloring again but the books and pencils are on my Christmas wish list. Even though my BFF lives a few states away, we always watch Outlander at the same time. When her and her husband came to visit, we sat down and watched together. The guys did not understand. We even have compared Jamie to a guy we knew in high school. Sighs.

  19. My hair dresser told me I had to watch Outlander last year. So I got my dads Starz Play password and started to watch Episode 1..... 8 hours later my hubby was pounding on my bedroom door to make sure I was still alive. I LOVE IT!!
I have to admit though I am still in shock for last years final episode. I wont say anything to give it away to anyone who didn't watch yet, but poor Jamie :(
And since you mentioned Game of Thrones my favorite Night Watch Captain better still be there next season >:O!

  20. I do enjoy coloring but have mostly been doing so in books with geometric designs and one of animals. No one who has seen the results has felt the need to frame them. I have not seen the Outlander series, am planning to purchase the series as therapy for particularly stressful periods of life....and are you trying to tell me that Jamie is not required to remove his shirt in every episode? I can hardly bare the disappointment. Oh, did I misspell that? Must have been a Freudian slip.
