I can understand wanting the conflict, it gives the story body and direction. However, getting bogged down in the conflict does not allow for growth and is a distraction. I thought the heroine would be the usual young lady of the time period and would blend into her new home seamlessly. However, when she turns out to be more of an independent woman who lives life her way, sparks fly.
