I haven't read many Gilded Age set books. I look primarily for a well written story no matter what the setting. As for how steamy the book, I do prefer a little less steam. So often the level is ramped up and not really necessary for the story. I have no preference on the setting whether US or UK. I am not a big fan of too steamy and find I can skip the heat and not lose the romance nor the story plot if I so desire. I do enjoy reading the Gilded Age period, because it's set in the US, but sometimes you still get dukes and other titled people.
