Lexi Clark’s life is falling apart around her, so when she’s summoned home to Sunrise Cove, the last thing she wants to do is face all the complications she left behind. Her past, her stepsister Ashley, and especially her infuriatingly gorgeous childhood nemesis-turned-crush Heath Bowman.Yep, Lexi’s pretty sure being home again just might kill her. She’s an overachieving art appraiser who doesn’t believe in trust, love, or Happily Ever Afters. Free spirit Ashley, on the other hand, is so full of life it hurts to look at her. But Lexi can’t refuse Ashley’s plea to honor their late mother’s final wish to make amends with the people she’d wronged. So, on behalf of her estranged mother’s estate—and with Heath in tow as the executor—Lexi embarks on a road trip to repay all the people her gambling addicted mother owed money to.
Complicating everything are the feelings that well up for Lexi: for her mom, for Ashley, and most of all, for Heath. And for the record, she doesn’t like it, or the way he has of scaling the walls she’s built around her heart. The road trip shenanigans that ensue are both funny and heartbreaking, but Lexi finds something shocking along the way. Acceptance. Family. And unbelievably—if you ask Lexi anyway—love.
PJ's Thoughts:
By the time I finished this book I felt like I had spent several hours with good friends. Such is the magic of Jill Shalvis' storytelling and character development. The Love Fix (wonderful title and very appropriate for this book) centers on found family, forgiveness, growth, healing, and love (both romantic and familial). It takes the three main characters on a journey of self discovery that strengthens bonds and offers new perspectives about each other as well as the person (now deceased) who ties them all together.
As is usually the case with a Shalvis book, I laughed, shed a few tears, and turned the final page with a deep, heartfelt sigh of satisfaction. She does it to me every time.
This book brings Shalvis' Sunrise Cove series to an end. As with the other seven books in the series, The Love Fix is a standalone story with the Sunrise Cove location being the only element binding the eight books together. If you're looking for stories that will touch your heart and tickle your funny bone, check them out. I enthusiastically recommend the entire series.
Have you been reading the Sunrise Cove series? Do you have a favorite?
I love that I can read the books in this series in any order. Have you read any other series that are comprised of standalone stories?

I haven't read The The Sunrise Cove series. I have read many series that are comprised of standalone stories. Charles Todd series, Jacqueline Winspear series, and Daniel Silva novels and series. This weekend I will be enjoying The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau.
ReplyDeleteI only discovered/started reading Jill Shalvis about 1 1/2-2 years ago. I had been focusing on reading historical fiction (catching up on favorite authors and finding new authors as well) but my book club members opened my eyes to Shalvis. I have collected some of her back titles at library book sales but have read book 1 of the Sunrise Cove series, The Family You Make as well as Book 3, The Backup Plan, Book 5 The Bright Spot, and Book 6, The summer Escape. You definitely do not have to read the series in any order. I cannot get over how prolific Jill Shalvis is! Must be the air and snow in Lake Tahoe!
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Summer in a Bottle by Annie Rains for my book club tonight, but have holds on many ebooks on my Libby account and books already downloaded on my Cloud Library account as well as a giant TBR pile and about six books borrowed from my local library. Not sure what I am going to read next! I have 2 holds on The Love Fix, one at the library and one on Libby. Looking forwards to finishing my book for tonight!
Yes and love and met her at the RWA2017 in Orlando. The Sweetheart list was one of my favorite. Reading some of the old books by Jodi Thomas.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my act together as it's been far too long since I read one of Jill Shalvis's books, and I haven't yet started the Sunrise Cove series. But I do enjoy being able to pop in and out of a series. I've done it with J.D. Robb (don't tell Sara Reyes!) and Louise Penny, among others, even though the authors might not approve:) And I know I read many of Eloisa James's books out of order. This weekend I have to finish Marina Adair's Love to Hate You because It's due back at the library. (And because I'm enjoying it and want to finish!)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any books from this series. Can't think of any series that are stand-alone books that I have read. Planning on starting Six Sweets Under by Sarah Fox.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed Jill's books in the past, but haven't started this series yet. I also enjoy her posts with photos of her writing view, animals & family. I usually prefer reading series in order as there is at least some crossover characters. Still working my way thru a Sabrina Jeffries series.
ReplyDeleteI have read many of Jill's books but none of this series. I am currently reading Meet Me on Lilac Lane by Andrea Christenson and enjoying it. Not sure what will be up next. Patoct
ReplyDeleteI haven't started this series yet, although I have purchased most of the books (when they were on sale). I know I've read many series that can be read in any order, although most series do seem necessary to read in the proper order. I'm not going to have much time to read this weekend - just enough to shut down my brain before bed, so I will be finishing the Ruby Dixon book my pilates/PT instructor loaned me - Ice Planet Barbarians book 1. I think I'll be reading more in the series at some point.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of her books in a while. This does sound like it is a good series.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I can't remember a series that was more several stand alone books than one better read in order.
Today I finished The Book Of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel. It was for today's book club meeting and was so good. Unfortunately, lately I have so little time to read. I have several suspense books sitting on my desk I would like to get to. Maybe I can start one next week.
I haven't read her books lately. She's a good writer, but she fell off my radar a little.
ReplyDeleteI love this series, I can't wait to read this. I am with my 3 Louisiana grandsons this week so I will not be reading as much.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of Ms Shalvis. This sounds like a terrific story. And right off hand, cannot think of another series which allows me to skip around. But, what a great thought.
