This first book in Jennifer St. Giles' new series about three siblings with unique psychic abilities is packed with edge-of-your-seat thrills, chills, twists, turns, and non-stop action. I was riveted from first to final page. The suspense is expertly crafted, characters are realistic and vividly portrayed. The villains in particular are chilling in their evil realism. St. Giles has written in a variety of sub-genres but it's her suspense thrillers where I think she does her best work and I am all in!

In Kaylee's Justice, she introduces us to the St. Claire siblings: Eva, Iris, and Devin. Each was born with a different psychic ability; abilities they keep hidden from the world. With each sibling, St. Giles has created a complex, realistic character, haunted by the effects of his or her "gift," as well as the tragic events of their family's past, yet continuing to use their special skills to fight for justice. I'm already invested in all of them and cannot wait to read each of their stories.

Though Iris and Devin have important roles in this first book, the primary focus of this story is on oldest sibling, Eva and FBI Special Agent Adam Frazier. Both are strong characters, natural protectors, and deeply impacted by tragedy in their lives. I love them individually and together. St. Giles puts them through the wringer - and then some - but it only makes them stronger in the end.

While this is not a romance in the traditional sense, there are romantic elements and, by the end of the book, the reader is left with the impression that there's a good chance a lasting relationship may be in their future. With the way Kaylee's Justice ends, I feel hopeful that we will be seeing more of them in Iris' and Devin's books. I can't wait!

Every place has its own specialness, one derived from its culture and its people.  Some places are similar and other places stand out as uniquely different.  The South is one place that has no equal when it comes to simple charm, grace, and humor.  Like an exquisite wine or a beautiful perfume that has taken centuries to develop, the South is magical and I love writing books set here.

My Southern Steam novels began with the Weldon Brothers, a mixture of devilish bad boys who know how to seduce their fearless heroines.  With Savannah as a backdrop, Wild Irish Ride, Smooth Irish Seduction, and Hard Irish Luck set the stage for hot romances with a touch of suspense and humor.  And while there is much more to come from the Weldons ( A Weldon Family Christmas Novella in 12/13 and Hot Irish Lass in 2014) I wanted to share a story set a little closer to home with an unconventional heroine and an irresistible hero who was cut from the cloth of a true Southern gentleman.  In Cocktail Cove (Frankly, My Dear Series Book 1), Nikita Derringer and Ben Harding show us what love is like when life shakes you up and pours you over the rocks.

They both have hit rock bottom in their lives and they are both searching to escape.  She’s burying her marriage six feet under and he’s turned his back on his former life.  Neither of them have any intention of falling in love, but fate has something very delicious in mind for them.  James Weldon, who will have his story in Hot Irish Lass, makes an appearance in Cocktail Cove and paves the way for some interesting events in the future.  The story celebrates a few Southern traditions and has more than its share of Southernisms—old sayings that hold a grain of truth with a bushel full of humor.

So today, I hope you will share your favorite Southern tradition or Southernism.  I will give out free ebooks to a few lucky posters who come up with the most interesting Southern tradition and who make with laugh with a good old Southernism.

To give you an idea.  In Cocktail Cove Ben goes to confront his sisters, aunts, and grandmother about an important matter, but the estrogen troops walk all over him during the discussion and then rush out the door before he has his say.  He shouts at their departing car a Southernism that perfectly expresses his situation at that moment, “Just butter my butt and call me a biscuit.”

What drives your day?

Through many of the difficulties that I have recently navigated, there are certain truths which stand out in my mind.  One of them is that every person, no matter how young or old, needs to have, a motto.  A few simple words they put into their mind at the start of the day that fuels and directs them through the challenges they face.  Mine center around what I’ve come to understand as the true measure of success.  It is not financial gain, though for a writer to be able to prosper greatly from their work is a beautiful thing that I hope to one day enjoy.  To me the true measure of success is touching the lives and hearts of others.  So my motto that drives me every day, my motto that drives every story I write, my motto that defines the direction of my future can be found in these six words.  Dream, Believe, Create, Inspire, Love, Heal.  Dream:  In dreaming of all of things possible a person fills their heart with hope. Believe:  In believing all things are possible a person becomes a dynamic force of forward moving energy. Create:  In creating a person taps into the wellspring of one’s heart and shares something that no one else on this earth can share because each person is an individual. Inspire:  When you dream, believe and create, you inspire others around you. Love: Inspiring others is the best way to love another person. Heal.  Love is the great healer in life.

I write romance because to me romance is dreaming, believing, creating, inspiring, loving, and healing.

What drives your day and your life?  Please share so that someone else might be inspired, feel loved, and healed. 

Now that I have been all serious, I am going to go crazy on you.  I’ve often said that writers don’t develop split personalities, they acquire pseudonyms.  I have three.  Jennifer St. Giles, JL Saint, and Jennifer Saints.  They all sort of came into existence in order to fit the genre I wrote from historical gothic to military thriller to sexy contemporary romance.

Today, I hope I don’t make your head spin, but I am going to be all three of my personalities because I have something great happening in each of the genres I am currently writing in.  (We won’t mention the fact that I have several stories on my computer just waiting to be finished that don’t fit in the three categories above.  When I get them done I will have to close my eyes and play eeny-miney-moe to pick which one I will publish the book under because I promised I would not take on another name.

As Jennifer St. Giles, the re-released trade paperback of Darkest Dreams (sequel to Midnight Secrets) will hit the shelves on July 3.  The third book in the Killdaren trilogy, Silken Shadows, will be re-released in e-book form on July 10^th.  The covers are amazing!

As Jennifer Saints, I will be releasing the third book in the Weldon Brothers Series, Hard Irish around the first or second week in July. 

Hard hat in hand, Jared Weldon goes undercover.  But the answers he finds at McKenna Construction.  Leaves him drowning in passion and hard up against a killer.

( Ahem, I had promised myself and my readers that I would have it done by June 30^th, but alas I must not be as young as I once was.  Life has intruded, and my ability to write all night and work all day is gone.  But I want the story right so, please be patient as I get Jared Weldon and Rocky McKenna hot and steamy on the page).

Today's Special - - Author Jennifer Saints and Cover Model Tim Parrish

We are happy to welcome Jennifer St. Giles (a/k/a Jennifer Saints a/k/a J.L. Saint)  back to The Romance Dish.  We know how much you all enjoy a good looking book cover. (grin)  Well, Jenni has not only brought along the cover of her upcoming book, Cocktail Cove but she also recently interviewed the gentleman who graces that cover.  We hope you enjoy the following interview with cover model, Tim Parrish!

Why is this romance writer writing about LOVE IN THE WILD?

Two reasons.  First, because love and fun is what romance is all about.  And season two of LOVE IN THE WILD looks to be full of both.  Second, because one of the men starring in LOVE IN THE WILD is on the cover of my upcoming book, COCKTAIL COVE.  In this author’s opinion, Tim Parrish makes this cover a very beautiful thing.   I’ll share more about the story later.  Today we have the special treat of hearing from Tim!

JENNI: What are the best things about growing up in Wisconsin and living in Chicago?

TIM: Growing up in Wisconsin was great because the neighborhoods I lived in had a lot of my friends in them or close by and were pretty safe for kids.  We had parks basically in my backyard that we were always playing sports in and just having good fun.  The move to Chicago in 2004 was a bit of a shock coming from smaller to medium town living to big city living.  This city always has stuff going on and more to offer as it pertains to entertainment, restaurants and opportunities.  It’s been pretty good to me for the most part.

JENNI: Real estate man, actor, model, personal trainer, comic and independent contractor.  Tell us about what brought you to these career choices.

TIM: I like the spice of life.  Why make money doing one thing when you can spice up the variety of your days, meet people across different industries and have fun doing it.  I love the creative side of things so I gravitate more towards those career choices.

JENNI: You’re about to make some major changes in your life.  What are your future hopes and goals?

TIM: Time to make bigger strides and go after some things more aggressively in the entertainment world.  My hopes are to be a successful working actor and model while still leaving time to do some other jobs like I’ve been doing.

JENNI: If you could only tell the world five things about who Tim Parrish the man is, what would they be?

TIM: How about 5 F’s: Fun, funny, fit, free minded and fortunate

JENNI: What is the most romantic thing you can think of?

TIM: Doing something creative and surprising someone with it.  Not using the power of the dollar to impress someone, but your mind and thoughtfulness to really show them you care.  This can obviously be done in so many ways, but sometimes people forget about simplicity of things and hide behind expensive dates to get someone interested.

JENNI: Do you have a driving motto in life?  What is it?

TIM: What’s gnawing at the back of your conscious mind every day that you have a passion for?  Go do that and don’t stop until you accomplish what you think you can do.

JENNI: NBC’s LOVE IN THE WILD looks like it was a lot of fun.  Is there anything you want people to know about your role on the show?  Can you say anything about your experience on the show yet? 

TIM:  It was a ton of fun and wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.  Basically, I wanted to just be myself and have as much fun as possible, make connections naturally without forcing anything and kick some ass in the competitions.  I am a goof, although I am a pretty confident guy, so as you can tell from the commercials that I let loose a bit with my interview questions.  Gotta watch for the results though, I’m sworn to secrecy.

JENNI: Did starring in LOVE IN THE WILD change your personal outlook on relationships and what is important in them?

TIM:  I’m always evaluating the relationships I’m in across the board.  Whether it’s romantic, business or personal, there’s always more you can bring to the table to tweak them and you learn more about what really matters to you.  Nobody is perfect, but you need to understand how you want to position yourself in these relationships and who is really worth your time in the end and sometimes you need to cut ties or work further with a relationship and do what makes sense for you.  That’s how I do it.
