Reviews & Giveaway - - July 2025

July brought a nice mix of entertaining reads here at The Romance Dish. We reviewed twelve books that ranged from small-town contemporary to Victorian historical to paranormal to women's fiction to hockey romance to Jane Austen retellings (with a Korean twist) to second chances in New Orleans to messy family relationships in South Carolina to a story set in Ireland! There were two novellas, a debut, three new-to-me authors, and heartwarming stories from auto-buy favorites. It was a good month for books!

Did you read any of the books we covered this month?

Did you discover any new or new-to-you authors in July?

What were your favorite July reads?

One randomly chosen person who posts a comment before 11:00 PM, August 3 will receive a print copy of The Muse of Maiden Lane and Rules for Ruin by Mimi Matthews.

  2. I read several of the July novels and loved them. An Irish Summer, and That Last Carolina Summer were my favorite. Since I love summer these were perfect and captivating. Pam Mantovani is a new to me author.

  3. I read DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME and TWO RUINS MAKE A RIGHT and really enjoyed both of them! I had read Janna's previous version of TWO RUINS MAKE A RIGHT and thought this version was better with the extra scenes. I've got several of the other books - including BAD LUCK BRIDE on my wishlist.

  5. I didn't read any books this month, even though I tried. I did discover a couple of authors I would like to try and was reintroduced to several I enjoyed in the past but haven't read in too long. I am hoping to get more time to read next month, but that is iffy. Yesterday the lens in my left eye fell out, well actually in. It is lying on the bottom of my eyeball. I had no idea something like that could happen. The soonest I can get in for surgery is Monday. I am not sure what they will do or how long recovery will be. It is making reading a bit difficult , so who knows how much reading I will get done. Computer time is also restricted to about 15 minutes at a time. Keep presenting your selections for the months. It gives me lots of books I want to read.

    1. Patricia I hope it all goes well. I must have cataracts removed soon, so I will be thinking of you and how you are taking care of you and recovering to return to being who you are. Take care and God Bless.

    2. Annette, Thank you. I had cataract surgery on both eyes over 12 years ago. It was much easier than I expected. The lens that "fell in" was treated with a laser to remove build-up on it this past year. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. I have lots of questions for the doctor on Monday. As much as it hurt today, the displaced lens must be irritating it.

    3. Patricia, I'll be keeping you in my prayers for a quick and painless solution on Monday. Check back for August Coming Attractions. I have lots of new titles to add to your list!

    4. Thanks, P. J. Unfortunately the appointment did not have the kind of news I would have liked. The eye is swollen so I am using drops for two weeks, then going back. Surgery is a definite, but results are very questionable. There are a multitude of things that can go wrong such as needing to redo the surgery, retinal detachment, needing a corneal transplant , or losing my eye. Something has to be done, so I will just have to hope for the best. I am the primary driver in the family, so I need to be able to drive and am doing OK now even with blurry vision in one eye.

  6. Atonement Sky is on my TBR, but I haven't read it yet. New to me author would be Sarah Fox. I read Six Sweets Under and really loved it.
