Things I Learned
From My Heroine
Princess
Adria began her adventure as an immature, sheltered girl. By the end of
ATLANTIS GLACIAL TIDES she’d grown into a true heroine. Her full quest takes
her from the middle of a hurricane, to a deserted island, to below the frigid
waters of Antarctica.
As I
wrote both ATLANTIS TWISTING TIDES (the prequel) and ATLANTIS GLACIAL TIDES, I
experienced growth of my own. I discovered I had spunk like Adria who pretended
to be human to save a guy from a hurricane and fought a Polar Shark. I learned
to fight back like Adria when she disobeyed her parents to do the right thing.
And I became more versed in my world, just as Adria learned about all the
problems in her underwater world and vowed to improve the conditions.
Adria
goes from caring about only herself and her small troubles to caring about all
the people enslaved. She becomes informed and takes action to help those less
fortunate. Her mission might be about unfair work conditions, but her mind and
her world has expanded.
I’m
learning more about causes in my area. For example, approximately 1.7 million
young people call the streets home every year. Teen homelessness and hunger are
important issues to me. A problem that needs a solution.
Is there
a cause that you are impassioned about?

Atlantis Glacial
Tides
Lost Daughters of
Atlantis Book 5
Shocked
by her family’s plans to wed her to a stranger, sixteen-year-old Princess Adria
must decide whether to flee the underwater Kingdom of Merta or fight to keep
her rightful place. When Kai, the criminal she’d rescued informs her of a plot
to kidnap her future sister-in-law, Adria decides to take action to prove her
loyalty.
Sparks flew
between her and Kai when they met during a hurricane misadventure, but she
can’t trust her judgment about him. Especially when Kai won’t help stop the
kidnapping because he’s on his own secret mission. A mission that he refuses to
divulge.
In a
case of mistaken identity, Adria is kidnapped and whisked away to a mysterious
glacial underwater world of ice and evil where she learns that everything isn’t
rainbow fish and roses, that there are Atlanteans who suffer and slave, and
that being cold isn’t a state of body, but a state of mind.
With Kai
as her prison guard, the two teens grow closer, and Adria must choose between
loyalty to her kingdom or to her dreams.
Atlantis Twisting
Tides
Lost Daughter of
Atlantis Novella
When
unrest threatens her kingdom, a mermaid princess must choose between loyalty
and love.
When
fifteen-year-old Atlantean Princess Adria sneaks away to see a hurricane on the
surface of the ocean, she finds an air-breather in trouble. Kai’s sailboat is
sinking and Adria risks exposure of her Atlantean powers in order to save him.
Kai
believes he’s rescuing Adria. He’s Atlantean too, with his own skills and
secrets.
The two
teens stumble onto an uninhabited island still thinking the other needs
rescuing. When other Atlanteans show up—Atlanteans plotting against Adria’s
kingdom—Adria must decide whether to trust Kai based on the guy she’s come to
know or the company he keeps.
Hi Allie! Welcome back! I'm away from the computer this morning but I should be able to check in around noon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting me, PJ! I always love visiting The Romance Dish.
ReplyDeleteOh PJ, this looks wonderful. We love YA books and I missed this ....Good to meet you Allie. I loved all that you have learned and that Adria has been on a similar journey. I am going to find you on facebook and check out these books on amazon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hope! It's been such a fun series to write. I only wish I was a princess and could influence government like she can. Allie
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Hope!
DeleteThe books look like a really great read! Allie, have you watched BBC 's Atlantis a all? I've recently gotten hooked. I am impassioned about kids, as well. My husband and I became licensed foster parents a year and a half ago. Every story breaks my heart.
ReplyDeleteCrystal, That is fabulous that you are foster parents. That takes a lot of dedication. It's interesting that we are talking about this topic today because in Colorado, where I live, it is Colorado Gives Day and a bank matches all donations made to Colorado charities for 24 hours. Last year, they raised over $20 million for a variety of organizations.
DeleteI just recently found the show "Atlantis" on BBC and have watched a couple of episodes. I love how everyone has a different take on the legend. Allie
Sounds like I need to check out BBC's Atlantis. I'm fascinated with stuff like that.
DeleteAllie, I love that Colorado does that! And kudos to the bank that matches the donations. That's wonderful!
DeleteI just started Book 4 Dark Tides today. I've really enjoyed this series and am excited to see more coming! I love the world your books take me to.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ange! It's always nice to hear people say they are enjoying what I write. Your comment is really appreciated! Allie
DeleteThanks for popping in, Ange. Thanks to hear you're enjoying the books! :)
DeleteInteresting series
ReplyDeleteThanks, bn100. I've enjoyed writing it and depending on the response to Atlantis Glacial Tides there may be more books to come. Allie
DeleteGlad to hear there might be more books to look forward to!
DeleteThere are three new characters in Atlantis Glacial Tides with the most interesting backstories. Would love to write their adventures. Allie
DeleteI'm back! I've been on the road and didn't have internet access until now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you arrived safely. I've been in and out all day. Allie
DeleteThis series sounds amazing! Definitely going to have to add it to my to-read list :)
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check back in the next few days, Nicole. You may be our lucky winner!
DeleteNicole, The first book in the series, ATLANTIS RIPTIDE, is available for free right now on Amazon, iBooks, Google, Nook, and Kobo. Allie
DeleteThe cover art for this series is lovely. The flow and swirl of the characters is perfect. Have read the blurbs for the books and like the sound of them. I wish I were still working as a children's librarian. This is a series I know the teens would enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe have had causes and worked with them for many years. They overlap and the amount of time given to each shifts, but we try to keep involved at some level. We support our animal shelter and did fostering for litters of puppies too young to adopt out for about 6 years. We have kept several rescue dogs, cats, birds, snakes and currently have 3dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, and 1 ball python. I work with Catholic Charities donating and collecting household goods for their transitional housing program as well as working on the committee that puts on the annual fundraising dinner. My main volunteer activity right now is with the Red Cross. We are disaster volunteers working local fires, etc. and deploying for national disasters, which thankfully have been relatively few this year. We work in several other areas. With their recent staff cuts, volunteers are taking over more duties and we are taking over many of the duties relating to veterans issues. There are lots of other little things thrown in, but those are the major ones. There are more things I would like to do, but there just isn't enough time. It isn't hard to find good causes that need help.
Best of luck with this new series.
