Happy Independence Day!

Here in the United States of America, July 4th is a very special day. It's our country's birthday! It is a day in which we honor the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and those who fought for our nation's independence and freedom. It's a day filled with picnics and patriotic parades, a night full of fireworks and concerts, and a very good reason to fly the American flag. The Dishes are spending Independence Day celebrating with family and friends, but want to wish all of our American friends a Happy Fourth of July!

To our American friends, how do you celebrate Independence Day? To our non-American friends, does your country have an Independence Day? If so, how do you celebrate?

  1. A Happy Fourth of July to all the wenches. I hope you all have a day filled with good food and good company along with the fireworks. I just finished making a big bowl of Aunt Tula's potato salad and icing down the watermelons for our family cookout this evening.

  2. Happy 4th of July to all the US folks. Happy Monday to everyone else!

We celebrate with a ton of food. I haven't stopped eating since Friday. I may end up buying all the TUMS in my town. LOL

  3. Happy Independence Day!

We just celebrated our big day in Canada, not independence day but the day we officially became a country July 1, with fireworks, barbecues, concerts in the parks. This year we had the royal tour with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the capital July 1 - wish I could have been there.

  5. Happy Fourth of July!

Mother and Dad have been coming to our place the last 10 years or so and we usually grill out. Shary, though, has requested beef and noodles, so I made noodles yesterday and have a roast in the crockpot today.

We saw fireworks last night and may go again tonight.

  6. Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

My country's national day is on the 1st of December. The celebrations nowadays are nowhere near as grand as those in the US. Mostly, they consist of a parade held in the morning at an important monument in town. The cold weather doesn't allow too many activities, but for my family the most important thing is being together and having a good time.

  11. I loooove roast, Deb, so your daughter has great taste. ;-)

We've also had firecrackers going off for the last two nights (late)...which isn't good when you have a child that does NOT like them. LOL! I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday together!

  16. A Happy 4th to all the Americans and a Happy Canada Day, belated, to our Canadian friends to the north. I grew up on the Canadian border and there was much overlap with the holidays.

  18. We celebrate Australia Day on the 26th January. It's my Mum's birthday too, so a Summer BBQ is the usual way to celebrate with friends & family.
