Coming Attractions

We've arrived. It's December, the final month of the year, and I have to say, 2020 has been both the shortest and the longest year I've experienced in my life. I'm more than ready to turn the page. But, before we do that, I plan to do my level best to make this month one that overflows with joy, kindness, and the spirit of all the December holidays. And books, of course. Always, books! Here's what's happening at The Romance Dish this month.

December begins with a cover reveal of So We Meet Again, a 2021 rom-com by Suzanne Park, on Wednesday, December 2. This Korean-American writer and comedienne is sure to bring the humor, heart, and diversity of her debut, Loathe at First Sight to this second novel as well.

Tuesday, December 8 brings the tour review of Simple Gifts by Anna DeForest. This first book in her High Country Marshals series is a Christmas story featuring a struggling female rancher and a rugged ex-Marshal.

Join me on Thursday, December 10 when I celebrate some of my recent Harlequin holiday reads. They have some greats stories waiting for readers this month.

Jayci Lee is one of my favorite new author finds this year. I have loved the first two books in her Heirs of Hansol, contemporary romance series for Harlequin Desire and am excited to bring you my review for the final book in the trilogy, Off Limits Attraction, on Wednesday, December 16

Stop by Tuesday, December 14 when I'll be sharing excerpts, recipes, and more while shining a spotlight on a collection of Casablanca holiday romances.

Friday, December 18 brings a review of All the Colors of the Night by Jayne Ann Krentz. This second book in Krentz's Fogg Lake romantic suspense trilogy is sure to have readers on the edge of their seats while flipping pages late into the night.

On Tuesday, December 29, I'll be sharing my thoughts about BOONE, the third book in Emily March's Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas spinoff trilogy. It's deeply emotional and my favorite of the series.

Wrapping up the month on Wednesday, December 30, I'll be bringing you my review of Wrong Alibi by Christina Dodd along with a Q&A with the author. This newest suspense thriller by Dodd has more twists and turns than an Alaska mountain road. I couldn't put it down.

Those are the scheduled events for December but keep an eye out for pop-ups throughout the month. I'll be adding more reviews and some surprises as well as we wrap ourselves in the joys and traditions of whichever holiday we celebrate. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay tuned for more fun here at The Romance Dish.

Have you begun decorating for the holidays yet?

Are you reading any Christmas or Hanukkah romances? What's on your reading agenda this week?

  1. We have put up our tree. Here is on my agenda: Sleigh Bells Ring by Jessica James, His Christmas Princess by Kathleen O'Brien, Christmas In Destiny by Toni Blake, Wedding at Mistletoe Chalet by Dani Collins and Shaking the Sleigh by Delancy Stewart.

  2. This week I'm reading Kristin Higgins Blue Heron series from a few years ago. I'll probably go for some Christmas stories next - perhaps an anthology of Christmas stories. Since no one will be coming to the house this year I doubt I'll do any decorating. I am working my way thru the Hallmark holiday movies and have to watch the ones on Lifetime too.

  6. While I read Christmas - and all holiday - themed books year round, I always end up reading a lot of Christmas ones during the holiday season especially anthologies. Right now I'm reading CHRISTMAS ACTUALLY a Christmas anthology.

No decorating yet, but I have started shopping and making bourbon fudge for gifts.

  7. When I look out and see pretty Christmas trees shining in neighbors' windows, I realize that I have to get going and decorate. Hoping to get that done today. I have read a few Christmas books recently, and am also catching up on some lovely books from NetGalley. I should definitely meet/exceed my goal of 200 books read/reviewed this year. Getting a new hip in September slowed me down a bit but I'm getting there. Really looking forward to reading an e-galley of Julia London's "A Princess by Christmas." Everyone stay warm and well!

  8. I'll read any book at any time lol. No, no decorating. Not sure we will to be honest. We always got a live tree and this year we will be getting no company and it's just the two of us. We did help decorate my one daughter's tree though and I usually babysit once a week so get to see hers lol Good news is that I'm reading a lot more.

  9. I am currently reading the Christmas Cinderellas anthology and have been enjoying the stories in between long work days and holiday prep. I really love Christmas anthologies and have the Christmas Actually anthology waiting on the Kindle. I have several longer holiday books to read over my Christmas break vacation including Debbie Mason's Christmas on Reindeer Road and The Widow's Christmas Surprise by Jenna Jaxon.

Christmas decorating is done, except for the living room Christmas tree which will be put up this weekend or next.

  10. Yes, I've done all of the Christmas decorating except for the tree which I will be starting on tomorrow.

I haven't read any Christmas romances yet, although I have Julia London's "A Princess by Christmas" on hold at the library. I'm waiting for it to come in.

I'm currently reading "To Have and to Hoax".

  11. I had decided I would not decorate - but a good friend came by and gave me a supply of new shiny decorations for my tree. She cheered me up a great deal. So, tree is up, the Santa mugs are all out, all the Christmas tins are out, and finally all my snow globes are out and each one has played its song at least once so far.

A few years ago, I was dividing tree decorations for my kids. Turns out when I was done, I had few left. Now, my tree looks lovely again. I am blessed to have good friends.

I read Christmas stories on and off all year long. But this year, I am going to get my Signet Christmas books out and read and cry and laugh.

This year, I generally have been doing OK. But, for some reason, as we get nearer to Christmas it has been difficult. Maybe that is because when I fixed my Thanksgiving dinner, for some reason I messed up every single thing in one way or another. I had to dump most of it....terrible waste.

I am wondering if I can find some to go food for Christmas day?

I hope everyone is taking care and staying well.
