Summer is in full force as the temperatures (and heat index) can attest! Which is kind of weird because my kids start back to school on Monday...seems like they just got out for summer vacation. Here is a list of this month's hot releases to rival that sweltering heat! Which August releases have you read? Of those, which ones do you recommend? Which ones are you most looking forward to? Tell us and one lucky poster will win a random book I picked up from this year's RWA conference!
Until September, happy reading!

ReplyDeleteA Kiss at Midnight - Eloisa James
All I Ever Wanted - Kristan Higgins
Eternal Kiss of Darkness - Jeaniene Frost
The only one I read is Dee Davis' "Desperate Deeds." I'm looking forward to the releases from Elizabeth Jennings, Renee Bernard, Heather Graham and Linda Howard.

I read Ruthless by Anne Stuart and it was very good. There are a whole bunch of books I want to read including but not limited to the new ones from Jill Shalvis, Erin McCarthy, Joanne Rock, Loretta Chase, Kristan Higgins, Karen Ranney.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a feast for us readers!! So many great books coming out this month.
ReplyDeleteI've read AWAKENED BY A KISS by debut author Lila DiPasqua. It is fantastic. My review will be up next week and Lila makes an appearance here next week also.
I also got two of Magaret Mallory's that you recomended to me
ReplyDeleteOh Helen, I can't wait for you read these!!! You are just going to love them. I met Margaret at the conference and she is such a delightful woman.
I am currently reading Kristan Higgins' All I Ever Wanted and I am loving it!! Up next for me is going to be Elizabeth Hoyt's Wicked Intentions.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I think Eloisa's latest is on a lot of people's lists!! I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteMariska, Suzanne Collins' books have really exploded in the YA genre, haven't they?? I haven't read any of them yet, but they've been recommended to me!
ReplyDeleteKirsten, Kristan Higgins' latest is on my list, too! Good luck with the move!
ReplyDeleteJane, I'm looking forward to Renee Bernard's as well. I reviewed the first in the series and can't wait for this one!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Helen! Decisions, decisions... I have Elizabeth Hoyt's in my TBR pile and will get to it soon! Let us know which book you decide to read first. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Maureen! I've had Anne Stuart's books recommended to me, but have yet to read one. I guess this would be a good time to start!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Lila's debut, Buffie!!
ReplyDeleteTrisha, we have such similar taste that you'd think we're related! ;-)
ReplyDeleteNot too many books on my radar for this month (great for tackling the tbr pile) but have read a couple already off the August list:
ReplyDeleteRead:
Swept Away by a Kiss
Wicked Intentions (had to stay up to 3am to finish, I hated put it down) :)
Planning/thinking to read:
Till Dawn with the Devil
Last Night's Scandal
Captured by Desire
Happy reading everyone :)
I just finished Carly Phillip's Kiss Me If You Can. It was fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Jane Porter's She's Gone Country.
I have only read one so far, Eloisa James A Kiss at Midnight, wonderful read!
ReplyDeleteI still have to get Tessa Dare, Elizabeth Hoyt, Loretta Chase and I want to read Awakened by a Kiss too. Actually, after looking at the list I want all the historicals and part of the contemporary.....LOL Okay, another month to be broke apparently.
Elizabeth Hoyt is to me what J.K. Rowling is to Harry Potter fans. I become like a crazed kid, waiting in line at the store 3-days in advance! =)
ReplyDeleteWicked Intentions lived up to all my expectations. Great start to an evocative, sensual yet sensitive series. EH is my #1 historical author.
Next on my list:
Eloisa James - A Kiss At Midnight
All I Ever Wanted - Kristan Higgins
Last Night’s Scandal -- Loretta Chase
I am really looking forward to A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James. It sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMargay
gamistress66, I read Till Dawn With the Devil and loved it. It had a great twist! Look for my review tomorrow.
ReplyDeleterunner10, Carly Phillips is another author I've yet to read but plan to!
ReplyDeleteDianna, I feel that way (broke) every month! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Scorpio! What a great way to put it! I love EH's books, too, and was blown away by her debut.
ReplyDeleteMargay, I love stories that have fairy tale themes. EJ's looks to be a good one!
ReplyDeleteI've already read A Kiss at Midnight -- Eloisa James,Three Nights with a Scoundrel -- Tessa Dare, All I Ever Wanted -- Kristan Higgins, Bedeviled Angel -- Annette Blair. Last Night’s Scandal -- Loretta Chase, and
ReplyDeleteWicked Intentions -- Elizabeth Hoyt. Summer Brides (Susan Wiggs, Sherryl Woods, Susan Mallery) and
White Heat (Brenda Novak) are on my TBR shelf already.
I'm really looking forward to Teresa Medeiros's The Devil Wears Plaid (August 24). I know since it's late August, y'all count it as September. It fels closer if I count it as August. LOL! I've heard good things about Anne Stuart's new trilogy, so I'll definitely be reading Ruthless. I'm a fan of good YA novels too, so Trish's Winter Longing (written as Trisha Mills) is another must read for me.
I have another dozen on my TBB or LIB lists including Swept Away by a Kiss -- Katharine Ashe, Libertine’s Kiss -- Judith James,
and Claimed! -- Vicki Lewis Thompson. I don't think I'm in danger of ever running out of good books to read.
This is another month where my 3 book/$30 (whichever is more) rule is going to kill me! Last month was the first month and I broke it already (but shhh, my husband doesn't know that ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking especially forward to the Tessa Dare series, the new Eloisa James, and the new Loretta Chase for historicals. I've heard to much about the Erin McCarthy series I need to give it a try too. I haven't read any of these yet, I think it's time to put that barnes and noble coupon I got yesterday to use...
I actually haven't gotten to read any of the new august releases. Seeing though i just got hired for a job yesterday i can happily buy some though. ^^ My sister has read "The Iron Daughter -- Julie Kagawa" and she was it was amazing. So that's a recommendation. ^^
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading:
Eloisa James - A Kiss At Midnight
&
Highland Rogue, London Miss -- Margaret Moore

ReplyDeleteI have read Victoria Dahls A Little Bit Wild and it was wonderful! I am now reading Loretta Chase's Last Night Scandal and I am loving it! It has had a lot of laugh out loud moments.
ReplyDeleteSince I have such a huge TBR mountain (at last count 1000+), I don't really read the books I get as soon as I get them. They usually go on the shelf until later.
ReplyDeleteBooks coming in August that I am most looking forward to are:
Seduction Wears Sapphires
A Little Bit Wild
Three Nights with a Scoundrel
Nothing but Deception
Till Dawn with the Devil
Wicked Intentions
A Kiss at Midnight
The Smuggler and the Society Bride
Can you tell I love the historicals most?
Definitely looking forward to Hot Finish, and Eloisa James, and Tessa Dare's new releases!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise I haven't read these, though I have read some back-lists!
Thank you!
Jessica
I finally got Tessa's Three Nights with a Scoundrel yesterday and started it. Loving it so far! Eloisa's A Kiss at Midnight will be up next. (If my local bookstore can get its act together and get it to me. UGH!)
ReplyDeleteBut Andrea, I have to thank you for compiling this list every month so we don't miss out on any books by our favorite authors, even if our wallets may not thank us. ;) lol.
I'm behind in my reading; so many of these are nearing the top of my TBR stack. Next up will be Kelley Armstrong's Waking the Witch. I'm also looking forward to finishing Tessa Dare's Stud Club trilogy.
ReplyDeleteEven though these are a lot of books, I still consider it a slow month. Most aren't must-reads for me.
ReplyDeleteI read A Kiss At Midnight by Eloisa James and plan to read Veil of the Night by Linda Howard, but for the most part, I'll catch up on a few books that were released last month.
This is easy!! I would recommend
ReplyDeleteEternal Kiss of Darkness, Jeaniene Frost and Wait For Dusk, Jocelynn Drake!!
These are two of my fav authors. If I didnt get at least one book a year from each of them I would probably die!!
