New Releases for August and a Giveaway!

Summer is in full force as the temperatures (and heat index) can attest! Which is kind of weird because my kids start back to school on Monday...seems like they just got out for summer vacation. Here is a list of this month's hot releases to rival that sweltering heat! Which August releases have you read? Of those, which ones do you recommend? Which ones are you most looking forward to? Tell us and one lucky poster will win a random book I picked up from this year's RWA conference!

  15. Great list, Maureen! I've had Anne Stuart's books recommended to me, but have yet to read one. I guess this would be a good time to start!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can't wait to read Lila's debut, Buffie!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Trisha, we have such similar taste that you'd think we're related! ;-)

  18. Not too many books on my radar for this month (great for tackling the tbr pile) but have read a couple already off the August list:

    Read:
    Swept Away by a Kiss
Wicked Intentions (had to stay up to 3am to finish, I hated put it down) :)

    Planning/thinking to read:
    Till Dawn with the Devil
    Last Night's Scandal
    Captured by Desire

    Happy reading everyone :)

  20. I have only read one so far, Eloisa James A Kiss at Midnight, wonderful read!

I still have to get Tessa Dare, Elizabeth Hoyt, Loretta Chase and I want to read Awakened by a Kiss too. Actually, after looking at the list I want all the historicals and part of the contemporary.....LOL Okay, another month to be broke apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Elizabeth Hoyt is to me what J.K. Rowling is to Harry Potter fans. I become like a crazed kid, waiting in line at the store 3-days in advance! =)

Wicked Intentions lived up to all my expectations. Great start to an evocative, sensual yet sensitive series. EH is my #1 historical author.

    Next on my list:
Eloisa James - A Kiss At Midnight
All I Ever Wanted - Kristan Higgins
Last Night’s Scandal -- Loretta Chase

  27. Margay, I love stories that have fairy tale themes. EJ's looks to be a good one!

  28. I've already read A Kiss at Midnight -- Eloisa James,Three Nights with a Scoundrel -- Tessa Dare, All I Ever Wanted -- Kristan Higgins, Bedeviled Angel -- Annette Blair. Last Night’s Scandal -- Loretta Chase, and
Wicked Intentions -- Elizabeth Hoyt. Summer Brides (Susan Wiggs, Sherryl Woods, Susan Mallery) and
White Heat (Brenda Novak) are on my TBR shelf already.

I'm really looking forward to Teresa Medeiros's The Devil Wears Plaid (August 24). I know since it's late August, y'all count it as September. It fels closer if I count it as August. LOL! I've heard good things about Anne Stuart's new trilogy, so I'll definitely be reading Ruthless. I'm a fan of good YA novels too, so Trish's Winter Longing (written as Trisha Mills) is another must read for me.

I have another dozen on my TBB or LIB lists including Swept Away by a Kiss -- Katharine Ashe, Libertine’s Kiss -- Judith James,
and Claimed! -- Vicki Lewis Thompson. I don't think I'm in danger of ever running out of good books to read.

  29. This is another month where my 3 book/$30 (whichever is more) rule is going to kill me! Last month was the first month and I broke it already (but shhh, my husband doesn't know that ;)

I'm looking especially forward to the Tessa Dare series, the new Eloisa James, and the new Loretta Chase for historicals. I've heard to much about the Erin McCarthy series I need to give it a try too. I haven't read any of these yet, I think it's time to put that barnes and noble coupon I got yesterday to use...

  30. I actually haven't gotten to read any of the new august releases. Seeing though i just got hired for a job yesterday i can happily buy some though. ^^ My sister has read "The Iron Daughter -- Julie Kagawa" and she was it was amazing. So that's a recommendation. ^^

  33. Since I have such a huge TBR mountain (at last count 1000+), I don't really read the books I get as soon as I get them. They usually go on the shelf until later.

Books coming in August that I am most looking forward to are:

    Seduction Wears Sapphires
    A Little Bit Wild
    Three Nights with a Scoundrel
    Nothing but Deception
    Till Dawn with the Devil
    Wicked Intentions
    A Kiss at Midnight
The Smuggler and the Society Bride

Can you tell I love the historicals most?

  35. I finally got Tessa's Three Nights with a Scoundrel yesterday and started it. Loving it so far! Eloisa's A Kiss at Midnight will be up next. (If my local bookstore can get its act together and get it to me. UGH!)

But Andrea, I have to thank you for compiling this list every month so we don't miss out on any books by our favorite authors, even if our wallets may not thank us. ;) lol.

  36. I'm behind in my reading; so many of these are nearing the top of my TBR stack. Next up will be Kelley Armstrong's Waking the Witch. I'm also looking forward to finishing Tessa Dare's Stud Club trilogy.

  37. Even though these are a lot of books, I still consider it a slow month. Most aren't must-reads for me.

I read A Kiss At Midnight by Eloisa James and plan to read Veil of the Night by Linda Howard, but for the most part, I'll catch up on a few books that were released last month.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is easy!! I would recommend
Eternal Kiss of Darkness, Jeaniene Frost and Wait For Dusk, Jocelynn Drake!!

These are two of my fav authors. If I didnt get at least one book a year from each of them I would probably die!!
