I haven’t had the chance to read any August releases. Right
now I’m reading a May release, True to
the Law by Jo Goodman. It has helped me cope with some personal issues that
have occupied my mind as of late. Jo Goodman never disappoints! If you haven’t read her books, you should!
So, which August releases have YOU read? Of those, which
ones do you recommend? Which ones are you most looking forward to reading? Tell
us and one lucky commenter will win a random book from my prize stash!
Until September, happy reading!

ReplyDeleteOMG!! This is soooo not good! Cuz I just counted and have about 20 books from this TBR list for August to read! Talk about being behind in my reading, you aren't alone in this.
ReplyDeleteI only just finished Tracy Brogan's 3 books, Nicole Jordan's 2 books, Monica McCarty's handsome hunk in kilt #7, and our dear Terri Osburn's first book.
I'm working on Tessa Dare's "Any Duchess Will Do" (funniest in the series!) at the moment.
I'll be reading the much awaited and anticipated Elise Sax's 2nd book, "Matchpoint" next, just l.o.v.e. her 1st book,"An Affair to Dismember"! What a hoot, laugh-out-loud romantic suspense that was.
Joy, I have WAY TOO MANY books in my TBR pile...hill...mountain! Especially after RWA... ;-)
DeleteThere are a lot of books out there that I want this month. The first two I want to read are The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand and Behind His Blue Eyes by Kaki Warner because every book they've written I have enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteMaureen, I need to make time to read Kaki's books. PJ raves about them!
DeleteOh wow, school already? Where has the summer gone?
ReplyDeleteHere are my August picks that I'm super excited about:
And Then Comes Marriage – Celeste Bradley
My Notorious Gentleman – Gaelen Foley
Some Like it Hot – Susan Andersen
Flirting with Texas – Katie Lane
Three Little Words – Susan Mallery
Perfect Fling – Carly Phillips
These are all books in series I have read or have in my TBR pile, so I guess my TBR pile is just going to keep growing! :)
Tell me about it, Anita! Great list, btw. :)
DeleteI have read Guardian-Nancy Northcott, wonderful story, I love the world within a world she created and all the characters in it.
ReplyDeleteI want to read Once Upon a Tartan – Grace Burrowes, The Lady and the Laird – Nicola Cornick, The Devil of Clan Sinclair – Karen Ranney, Lady Anne’s Lover – Maggie Robinson, Three Little Words – Susan Mallery, the only problem is getting the time to read them once I have them in my possession.
I don't know how I managed to miss it but I am just now reading Trish Milburn's Magick, the conclusion to her Coven series.
"...the only problem is getting the time to read them once I have them in my possession."
DeleteA problem I know all too well, Dianna. LOL!
Andrea, our grands are all registered and ready for their first day of school on August 8. I can't believe the summer is over, and with five in middle school this year and the youngest starting pre-K, I'm feeling positively ancient.
ReplyDeleteI need my reading escape, and there's a wealth of it. I have already read Why Dukes Say I Do – Manda Collins, The Lady and the Laird – Nicola Cornick, How to Lose a Bride in One Night – Sophie Jordan, Love and Other Scandals – Caroline Linden, The Devil of Clan Sinclair – Karen Ranney, Lady Anne’s Lover – Maggie Robinson, Some Like it Hot – Susan Andersen, Sanctuary Island – Lily Everett, Rose Harbor in Bloom – Debbie Macomber (Women’s Fiction), Three Little Words – Susan Mallery,Home to Whiskey Creek – Brenda Novak, and Guardian – Nancy Northcott. I recommend most of them with my highest rating going to books by Manda Collins, Maggie Robinson, and Lily Everett.
I have another dozen on my TBR list plus several Superromances: Seduction in Silk – Jo Beverley, Once Upon a Tartan – Grace Burrowes, The Double Cross – Carla Kelly, What the Bride Wore – Jade Lee, Behind His Blue Eyes – Kaki Warner, The Passion of the Purple Plumeria – Lauren Willig , Wedding Belles – Beth Albright, FiancĂ© by Friday – Catherine Bybee, Just in Time – Addison Fox
Castaway Cove – JoAnn Ross, Hotshot – Julie Garwood, and The Last Kiss Goodbye – Karen Robards. I've already read ARCs of several Christmas books. We will all be singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" before we know it. LOL
"I've already read ARCs of several Christmas books. We will all be singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" before we know it. LOL"
DeleteOh, don't I know it, Janga. The first half of the school year will probably go as fast as the summer has. Time flies!
ugh, another month with tons of great books for the tbr pile & wish list, haven't read any yet (need a vacation to tackle them) but lots adding this month incl (but not limited to):
ReplyDeleteTall, Dark, and Vampire – Sara Humphreys
Guardian – Nancy Northcott
How to Lose a Bride in One Night – Sophie Jordan
Love and Other Scandals – Caroline Linden
The Highlander’s Desire – Margo Maguire
My Notorious Gentleman – Gaelen Foley
read Shadow of the Wolf – Dana Marie Bell when it released in ebook, find her books addictive & looking forward to Morgan's Fate by her which releases in ebook first this month
I would need an extended vacation to put a dent in mine, too, gamistress. So many books, so little time!
DeleteI ordered Love and Other Scandals by Caroline Linden and 8 books from Harlequin yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYou're off to a great start, jcp! Enjoy!
DeleteSchool starts after Labor Day here.
ReplyDeleteI just downloaded Sarah Mayberry's free August Harlequin and look forward to reading it. I also won a copy of Manda Collins' new book and look forward to trying a new author.
Kim, I hope you enjoy Manda's book! :)
DeleteI have so many books to read from July, and now August is here... 8 books to buy.. and some of August books are already on my TBR Shelf... Ah so many books, and not enough hours in the day.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Kathleen! We need a few more hours. ;)
DeleteI just finished up Susan Mallery's Three Little Words. I don't normally read contemporaries but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Finished it in one day, and that says a lot for me! I seem to never be able to sit down without interruptions. I just might go back and read some of the others in the series.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good month for books and I am looking forward to reading Manda Collins Why Dukes Say I Do
I'm so glad you liked it, SuzyQ! Please let us know what you think of the others if you read them. :)
DeleteI'll name 3 but of course I want to read so many more this month - Once Upon a Tartan – Grace Burrowes; The Highlander’s Desire – Margo Maguire; The Devil of Clan Sinclair – Karen Ranney. Of course that's just the tip of the iceberg lol.
ReplyDeleteLol! Of course, catslady!
DeleteI'm looking forward to reading
ReplyDeleteBiting Bad – Chloe Neill
Jeanne C Stein-Blood Bond
Wicked Beat – Olivia Cunning
I hope you enjoy them, elaing8!
DeleteI have read Gone South by Meg Moseley and Perfect Perfect Fling by Carly Phillips. Both Both were good but Perfect Fling was excellent! I gave it 5 stars. Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWanda Barefoot

Thanks for the recs, Wanda!
DeleteWow Andrea! Quite a month coming up, as usual. I've devoured the Ilona Andrews, Magic Rises, and am looking forward to Kate Cross's Breath of Iron, Elle Kennedy's Midnight Games, and Grace Burrowes' Once Upon a Tartan.
ReplyDeleteYes, Nancy, and this list is probably missing a bunch. With my grandfather's failing health, I've had a lot on my mind and plate. I hope you enjoy those!! :)
DeleteI have read Cowboy Seeks Bride & The Chocolate Touch, and would highly recommend them both! I am looking forward to The Marriage Merger (the rest of the books in the series were excellent!), Flirting with Texas, Surrender to Sultry & Wedding Belles from contemporary. From historical - Once Upon a Tartan, Why Dukes Say I Do, Seduction in Silk, and The Devil of Clan Sinclair. But honestly, there are so many great books, it is hard to pick!
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Sharlene, and thanks for the recs!
DeleteHave read none yet. Looking f/d to a lot of the contemps, Mallery, Probst, Everett to name a few.

Looks like a great list here. I haven't had much time for reading this summer, been really busy!
ReplyDeleteQuite a few I want to read, especially the Burrowes, Carla Kelly and Linden adn Robin Owens. Must read Meljean Brook's Guardian Demon and Ilona Andrews Magic Rises, two of my top favorite series! Of course I loved Heart of Obsidian (Singh), top favorite series. Wanting to try Lindsey Piper after seeing some good comments about her series.
ReplyDeleteI did read the new Ranney, this one was okay for me. I was disappointed with Kresley Cole's MacReive, seemed flat, not much character chemistry, seemed to be missing the usual series humor and quirkiness for me.
So many amazing authors and books. Once again I'm just adding on all the historical books to my reading list.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know I got my RWA prize today I LOVE IT!! thank you so much :)
ReplyDeleteAs for August reads.... I'm a bit behind, last month I decided to re-read every Lisa Kleypas Book I own so I've been busy with that :) Right now I'm on the 2nd Bow Street Runner book :)
Ack, more releases?? My poor TBR pile!! lol
ReplyDeleteThe releases that top my list for this month are The Darkest Craving – Gena Showalter, Flirting with Texas – Katie Lane, The Marriage Merger – Jennifer Probst, Three Little Words – Susan Mallery, Perfect Fling – Carly Phillips, My Notorious Gentleman – Gaelen Foley and Some Like it Hot – Susan Andersen. These are all series I'm always moving to the tops of my pile because I can't wait to read what's next.
Other books I'm looking forward to are And Then Comes Marriage – Celeste Bradley, Once Upon a Tartan – Grace Burrowes, Why Dukes Say I Do – Manda Collins, How to Lose a Bride in One Night – Sophie Jordan, Love and Other Scandals – Caroline Linden, The Devil of Clan Sinclair – Karen Ranney, Surrender to Sultry – Macy Beckett, FiancĂ© by Friday – Catherine Bybee and Sanctuary Island – Lily Everett
Really looking forward to lots of books coming out in August. Especially Wicked Beat by Olivia Cunning and Burn by Maya Banks. Also looking forward to the new book coming out by Carly Phillips, Macy Beckett, Lorilee James, and Bella Andre. Lots of other great books on the list that will try to get on ebook. Thanks for the new release list.
