LET'S DISH!

WOO HOO!  It's finally here!  The platters are loaded with delicious goodies, blenders filled with margaritas are whirring and the gorgeous waiters are awaiting your pleasure.  The Romance Dish is ready to open for business so let's cut the ribbon and get this party started!  (Andrea whispers in PJ's ear)  What?  But they all know us!  (more whispers)  Oh.  Yes, that's true.  We did tell people to bring their friends.  I guess it would be a good idea to tell them a little bit about us and how we came to form The Romance Dish.  Okay, listen up, everybody!  I'm going to tell you a story.

Once upon a time there were four women who loved to read romance.  They were frequent visitors to places like Squawk Radio, the Eloisa James/Julia Quinn Bulletin Board, the Avon Authors Forum and RomanceNovelTV - places where they would talk about the books they had read and what they liked (or didn't like) about them.  They had opinions.  Lots of opinions!  One day, Maria and Marisa, the mavens of RNTV, asked them to formalize their comments by writing book reviews for their site.  The women had never thought about writing actual reviews but it sounded like fun and, goodness knows, they sure did enjoy talking about romance.  Over the next two years they reviewed 147 books, discovered terrific authors whose books now grace their keeper shelves and made great friends.  But, alas, all good things must eventually end and a little over one month ago, the women received the news that RNTV would be closing.  They were disappointed and sad but they weren't finished.  There were so many books waiting to be published, waiting to be reviewed.  They still had more to say!  As luck would have it, the four women were scheduled to attend the Moonlight & Magnolias Conference a few days later.

They spent the weekend at M&M brainstorming, (Okay, there was a little partying but it was mostly brainstorming.  Honestly!), received encouragement and guidance from many wonderful people at the conference and, by the time they left that Sunday, were well on their way to building the cyber-home we're celebrating today.

(Gannon whispers in PJ's ear)  But I'm afraid I'll forget someone!  (more whispers)  Yes, you're right.  We should thank the people who have helped us but there are so many and, besides, people are getting restless.  They're thirsty and hungry.  They want to party!  I don't know if Sean and the other waiters can hold them back!  (frantic whispers and lots of hand gestures)  Okay!  I know it's important!  I just don't want a riot at our first party.  Not when we've worked so hard to decorate the place.  I'll make this short and sweet.  Then can we start the party?  (Gannon, Andrea and Buffie happily smile and nod in agreement)  Honestly, how did I get elected to emcee this gig anyway?  Mumble...grumble.  Oh.  That's right.  I volunteered. (PJ steps up to the microphone again.)

Since undertaking this new project, we have been blessed with an enormous amount of encouragement, enthusiasm and much-appreciated guidance from across the romance writing and reading world.  We appreciate each and every one of you!  Special thanks go to talented authors Anna Campbell  and Trish Milburn who will be joining us here at The Romance Dish with monthly blogs.  Be sure to mark your calendars for the 10th and 24th of every month.  Special thanks go to Kimberly Killion for designing our beautiful banner, avatars, rating stars and much more.  Beverley Kendall at The Season has been so generous in promoting our site and will be posting second-hand reviews from The Romance Dish.  Special thanks to Barb at Happily Forever After for graciously guiding a fellow blogger she had never met (me) through the steps to create our slide show and re-writing the code to make it fit into our side bar.  And last, but never least, many thanks to The Romance Bandits for their support and guidance and to Banditas Trish, Joanie, Nancy and Caren for convincing us in Atlanta that we can do this thing!

Okay, ladies!  Let's cut the ribbon and get this party started.  It's time to dish!

We're looking forward to a terrific line-up of books, blogs and authors at The Romance Dish this month.  What are you looking forward to in November?  Leave a comment and you may win one of the many prizes we'll be giving away throughout the day.  Every comment is another chance to win!

  1. Hey, does this mean I get the golden waiter? I'd much rather have a golden waiter than a golden rooster! Unless the rooster is basted and barbecued - but they won't let me do that in the lair! Whaaaah!

Hey, girls I'm SOOOOO excited about this. I've been champing at the bit for the day to come when it was all official and the Romance Dish was at last out of the oven and offering a delicious feast to all your readers!

PJ, Gannon, Buffie and Andrea, you're all looking most gorgeous! Not a bit like you spent the whole month slaving in the kitchen in preparation for our celebrations.

Huge congratulations on taking this step. I think this site is going to become one of the must-see sites for romance fiction. And I can't tell you how delighted I am that I'm going to play a part! Thank you so much for inviting me!

Now, where's my margarita? Let's get this party started!

  7. Good Morning and welcome to the Romance Dish! The Golden Waiter, Anna? Ooh, I do like the sound of that. *vbg*

It's early hours yet here on the east coast of the US so I'm afraid the BBQ isn't quite ready, Anna. Of course, the bartenders are already hard at work (such industrious fellows) so one of our waiters will be more than happy to serve you.

We're thrilled to have you on our team. I'm not going to give away secrets but our readers should know that you have some very special surprises in store for them! :)

Please make yourself comfy. I see other guests I need to greet.

  8. Hi Alicia! Welcome to our new digs. We're delighted you could make it.

I think you're going to enjoy Trish and Anna's monthly contributions to our little establishment. We also have some other wonderful authors visiting us in November. Check out the Slide Show in our blog side bar for details.

Thanks for coming to our party. We hope you'll be a regular!

  9. Hi Dianna! So glad to see you here! Did you follow Anna's trail? I hear she's been leaving feathers everywhere so people would be able to find us. I shudder to think what the poor golden rooster must look like by now!

Please make yourself comfy and do let one of our waiters know what you would like to eat and drink.

We'll be giving away prizes throughout the day so check back often to see if you've won!

  10. Waaahoooooooo!!!

Party at The Dish!! Oh yea, oh yea, party as The Dish, oh yea. **doing my best dance moves**

Anna, I don't know about a golden waiter, but we seem to have a wonderful selection of waiters to choose from. You know, it is a tough job looking for hottie waiters but I told Andrea, PJ, and Gannon that I would suffer through it for the cause. *VBG* I am so glad you are joining us every month and can't wait to read your first review!

Alicia - thanks so much for stopping by today. We are very excited about this month too. Hope to see you around here a lot!

Thanks so much Dianna! I'm glad we can be a part of your reads everyday.

Marcia - It does look good, doesn't it?! LOL! And so do some of the waiters - :)

Helen - I am SOOO happy you are here today. We all think you are something special too!

Kammie - thanks! New releases, huh? Well be sure to stop back by on Wednesday when Andrea has your New Releases blog up. You don't want to miss that!

    ENJOY THE PARTY, LADIES!

** off to round up some more hunky waiters **

  11. Thank you, Maria! We're looking forward to your author visit on December 16th. The crowd is still a little light so now is a good time to look around and get familiar with the place.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Helen! Welcome to our new home. Isn't it lovely? We've had some help with the decorating so we can't take all the credit but we're so proud of it. Feel free to take a look around and get familiar with the place.

I'm so happy that one of our first guests is one of my favorite Aussies. :) I hope you've brought some of that warm sunshine with you. We can use it here in my cold and rainy neighborhood.

Make yourself at home and please let one of our gorgeous waiters know if you need anything.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hi Kammie! So glad you could make it to our big debut party. There are some fabulous new books this month, aren't there? Which ones are you most excited about? Oh, and lucky you, getting time off to curl up with those hunky heroes and the heroines who knock them off their feet. Enjoy!

  14. Good morning and welcome to everyone! I can't believe our big day is finally here. *jumping up to do a happy dance*

Anna, dear, we may just have to give that golden waiter idea some thought. I like it! *vbg* Having you with us here at The Dish is going to make it even better than we could have imagined.

Many thanks and hugs and kisses!

I'll just cruise the room to make sure the waiters are taking care of everyone and that they keep your margarita glass filled. It may be the wee hours of the morning here, but as the song says, "it's 5 o'clock somewhere." LOL

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi, Alicia! We are so happy you came to join the party. Do you have enough to eat and drink? Are our gorgeous waiters anticipating your every need? Just give a wave, and they'll come running. :)

Trish and Anna's are definitely going to be a "must see" every month. And we have so many fabulous authors visiting and other fun times ahead. Stay tuned....

  16. Dianna, it's lovely to see you here. Thanks for making us one of your daily stops.

  17. It may be the wee hours of the morning here, but as the song says, "it's 5 o'clock somewhere." LOL

If I had to be awake at 5:00 this morning you better believe I was going to treat myself to one of those delicious margaritas. Besides, I don't remember the song specifying 5 o'clock PM, do you, Gannon? *vbg*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maria, how nice to see you! With all of this food, drink and chatting, it's a bit like Bunco, don't you think? Except, we never had sexy waiters at our Bunco nights.

Hmmm, may have to give that some thought. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  19. Helen, one of favorite ladies from Oz! It wouldn't be a party without you here.

We've had loads of help getting The Dish ready to roll. We couldn't have gotten here so quickly without them.

Enjoy the day! *whispers. Did I hear you mention Tim Tams? Do you have any with you? We have to be quiet, you know Tim Tams are so fabulous, they could start a riot if we don't have enough.* LOL

    ReplyDelete
  20. Gannon, sexy waiters are a plus anywhere;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kammie, welcome to the party!

Andrea, has a plethora of new releases she'll be sharing with us soon. You will have plenty of new books to add to your reading stack!

Put your feet up and let our attentive waiters--we love 'em!--take care of you!

    ReplyDelete
  22. PJ, now that you mention it, I don't recall the song specifying 5 p.m. either!

Oh, waiter! My margarita glass is looking a little empty. *vbg*

  124. WHOOOHOOOOO! It's the DISH!!!!

LOVE, love, love the site, ladies and...

Oooh, waiters. Yes, thank you I'll have a margarita. Virgin? No, I'm not..oh, you mean alcohol free. No, alcohol is fine. It's five o'clock in Australia, I'm sure. Grins.

I'm so glad you've come together to do this. We'll miss the M's but hey, you four are going to make them, and us, and the reading world PROUD!!! WOOT!

I know your are just going to rock this thing, and having a couple of rougish Romance Bandits (yes, that would be you two, Anna and Trish!) around will just add spice to The Dish. Grins.

So...Happy, happy and all that...gotta go follow this waiter. He said something about a...

  128. Woohoo, Helen! Congrats on being our first winner!

Isabel, thanks for the encouragement on NaNoWriMo. I'm silencing my inner critic/editor and just "vomiting" out the first draft. Like they say, you can always fix what's written, but you can't fix a blank page. :)

Kit, welcome to our party! We're so glad to have you with us.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Yay, Joanie! You know there are always turtles for you. You should have Sean feed them to you. *vbg*

  132. Catherine, welcome to the party!

I can completely relate to the out-of-control TBR pile. And I just keep adding to it. :) So many books, so little time, right?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Monica, you know it's part of our evil plan to add more books to your TBR stash. Mwahahaha!

Have something to drink and some chocolate, and you'll forget all about it. Oh, I think I spy a waiter over there who bears a striking resemblance to James Purefoy--he's even dressed a la Mark Anthony in ROME. I do believe he's headed your way, ready to fulfill your every desire. ;)

Whoa! Is it hot in here or is it just me? :-D

    ReplyDelete
  134. Lynn, thanks for stopping by and congrats on being our second winner!

  135. Connie, hereafter known as Constance (it does have a certain ring to it), we won't tell your DH about the young hotties. What happens at The Dish, stays at The Dish. *g*

  141. Thank you all for the welcome :) I have to admit, I never miss a party where there is champagne, or books, or well, ok, a party period! Can't wait to add to my massive TBR pile and hope I can keep hiding its size from my husband...

    ReplyDelete
  142. Thanks, Jane! We look forward to your frequent visits!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Jane, great to have you here! Grab some refreshments and make yourself at home.

  144. JWZ1978: Can't wait to add to my massive TBR pile and hope I can keep hiding its size from my husband...

Oh, can I relate to that! Mine is quickly turning into a TBR mountain! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  145. Andrea -

I've noticed one benefit of the Kindle is that I can grow the book pile at a slower rate, and the e-reader pile at a massive rate and no one knows how my list is growing :)

    ReplyDelete
  146. Congrats on your first offical day ladies!! I am so happy to be a part of you new site and can't wait to see what you have instore for us!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Thanks, Meg! We're so happy you've found your way to our new home. Hope you're a frequent visitor!

    ReplyDelete
  149. I find that by spreading my books throughout the house (I think, literally, every room has a pile at this point, not counting the bookshelves) that it makes the piles look smaller...the e-reader is just another devious way to support my book addiction

I'll pass on the alcohol, but may I just sit and look longingly at one of the dark-haired, blue-eyed waiters? I need inspiration for my Nano hero.

  160. Hello-o-o-o, ladies! I am so excited about this new site. I am one who has been mourning the closing of a few blogs lately, so it is wonderful to see the birth of a new one! :-)
