Best wishes for everyone to have a wonderful Valentine's Day! My husband and I got married on February 7th and it's always fun being able to celebrate the entire week to celebrate. Every year we always try to find something different to do and this week we're going to celebrate the wonderful 45 years by taking care of our 3 grandchildren who always bring us joy and let's our son and daughter-in-law a chance to celebrate (and not worry about when they get home!).
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, Jeanne! I hope you have a wonderful celebration with the grandchildren!
DeleteI don't celebrate anymore because my beloved husband of 39-1/2 years passed away 1-1/2 years ago from Lymphoma cancer.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gifts were always flowers, plants, and candy. We also went out to dinner.
I'm so very sorry, Cathy. (((Hugs)))
DeleteI wish a very happy Valentine's Day to everyone..I used to love going out to dinner with my husband and having some alone time. I think some of my favorite gifts are the very precious first Valentines day cards my kids made me in school.

I have those precious handmade Valentine's too. They bring back such sweet memories.
DeleteMy favorite Valentine gift is flowers. Sometimes we go out to an early dinner to beat the rush; otherwise we go the day before. I too always loved items by children made for me.
ReplyDeletepatoct
Hope you have a lovely time. Do you have a favorite flower?
DeleteWhat a clever poem! :-)
ReplyDeleteAfter all our years together, my husband and I enjoy making a homemade card for each other. They're always funny and some of them are very risqué. I guess someday we will have to destroy them so our kids don't find them when we pass away. They will be shocked at us - and then again, maybe they won't! :-)
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Hope you get whatever makes you happy because that's what it's all about. Be Happy!!
What a wonderful gift to give one another! I think finding those cards would show your children that love can be just as sweet 20, 30 or 40 years into a marriage as it is the very first year.
DeleteMy sister and her husband are visiting from Wisconsin. We will take my 90 yo mom out for dinner with them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift- free day to myself, now books.
Worst gift-When I was in HS my boyfriend gave me the uglyist stuffed red dog. I don't know what happened to it or to him.
Best- my husband gave me a beautiful emerald necklace.
Hope you have a wonderful time with your family!
DeleteI like your husband's choice of gift! :)
Favorite gift is dinner with hubby and a bouquet of flowers. An amazon gift card or books are not too shabby either. LOL. Cannot remember any awful gift.
ReplyDeleteNatalie's Mama
You can never go wrong with an Amazon gift card. *grin*
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day! We usually have a nice dinner and I enjoy getting some chocolates as a special treat.
ReplyDeleteHope all your treats are special this year!
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day, PJ and Andrea!!
ReplyDeleteTwo best gifts I haven ever received are a poem my now husband wrote for me 8 months before we married, and a bouquet of 11 red roses with a pink one in the middle for our little girl that would be born two months later. SOOOOO romantic, I think!!
Yesterday, my husband gave me a hooded, zip-up sweatshirt since I keep saying I need one. A little smaller than I would like, but still good.
My daughter has a volleyball tourney tomorrow, but I will probably stay home since I have bronchitis.
I like flowers, but they are expensive, so chocolates, and hooded sweatshirts, are great, too! ;)
Yes, Deb, I think your husband definitely qualifies as a romantic. :)
DeleteThe best Valentine's Day was a few months after my husband returned from serving in WW2. Chocolate is my favorite gift. Husband is gone now several years, so sometimes I go for a bite to eat with my daughter and her husband. Never had a bad gift.
ReplyDeleteHaving your husband return home safe from war would be the best gift ever.
DeleteFor this year, my Valentine's wish is for safe travel and good weather...our whole family will be traveling to south Louisiana to attend some Mardi Gras parades. So we get two holidays in one--Lots of purple, gold and green to go with our Valentine's red!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I'll add my wishes for safe travel and a great time!
DeleteWe will be taking care of our granddaughters while my son and his wife celebrate. This is meaningful to us as the little ones are precious and tiny. A gift I would love is to have time with my husband, walks, meals together and enjoy time since he works long hours. Worst gift was a can opener.
ReplyDeleteCan't help chuckle over the can opener. I think just about every guy out there has probably struck out with that type of gift at least once.
DeleteMy husband and I are going to a nice restaurant for a special meal. Valentine's Day is the anniversary of our first date 39 years ago! I love receiving flowers for any and all occasions! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely anniversary to celebrate. Hope you have a wonderful time!
DeleteNo plans although I did buy myself books fand chocolate for Valentine's Day for myself. I hope it arrives today (Friday)
ReplyDeleteI have to buy my own Valentine too, jcp. Books and chocolates aren't a bad combo!
DeleteIt is rare for us to celebrate by going out but I would cherish every minute of a vacation which would be wonderful. A gift of bath products since I appreciate long soothing baths. My worst gift was a pepper spray.
ReplyDeleteWell, pepper spray may not be romantic but it does say, "I want you safe" and that's good, right? ;-)
DeleteAfter 45 years, Valentine's Day is sort of hit or miss. My husband hates lines or waiting so we haven't done the going out to dinner as often as I would like but occasionally, sometimes on a day that is close. We've done flowers and candy and even lottery tickets and sometimes nothing :(. This year we are going to our American Legion for a dinner/dance since luckily it's on a Saturday. We have friends we'll be with and it should be a fun night.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun, catslady. Hope you have a great time!
DeleteWe usually don't do much for Valentine's Day. Husband is sick right now so I doubt we will be doing anything, going in to the doctor here shortly. Best gift I ever got was a mother's ring.
ReplyDeleteHope he's feeling better soon!
DeleteDark Chocolate is always a winner for me - and extra special is Godiva's Macaroons dipped in dark chocolate. Pretty flowers are also lovely to get (and they may last longer than the chocolate).
ReplyDeleteYou can have the flowers, Di. I'll take the dark chocolate macaroons. *wiping the drool off my keyboard*
DeleteI'm easy... just take me to Red Lobster :) But no plans this year. Thanks for the fun post and giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. I haven't been to Red Lobster in years. Do they still make those great biscuits?
Deleteoh yeah.... which is one of the main reasons for wanting to go :)
DeleteTake me out to eat!!! That's really all we do to celebrate. I do get the grandkids a little box of candy, cuz they are my heart.
ReplyDelete<3
DeleteThe reality of the mature 43 yrs of marriage allows easy acceptance of the bag of baby Ruth minis and a kindle filled to overflowing of sweet reads - and there I'll be
ReplyDeleteI'd be all over that gift...both parts! :)
Deleteah, what a sweet rhyme :) flowers or sweet treat are always nice :) worst was a stuffed animal that had been picked up at a garage sale or something, the issue was that it was all dirty/worn & while it was suppose to play music or something it didn't work.
ReplyDeleteAs my husband passed away, I spend time with my daughter and her husband and grandbaby.
ReplyDeleteNever did the dude ranch thing nor winter sports.
Love my chocolates. My husband always gave me lovely gifts, sometimes flowers, jewelry.
PattyB43
My poor hubby has to contend with my birthday, valentine's, and our anniversary within a 4 day span. Luckily I'm happy with going out once and one present. Chocolate is always a winner as are books.
ReplyDeleteI prefer chocolate. The best Valentine's Day gift I ever received was when my husband made a card for me instead of buying one.
ReplyDeletebest books worst something for the house(sweeper)
ReplyDeleteWe don't really celebrate Valentine's Day because we have too many February birthdays this month.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is the day after, so I usually get flowers for Valentine's Day and on my bday, we go out for a nice meal.
ReplyDeleteMickey Mac
When the kids were small my favorite gift was a night out with my husband, and no dishes! The best gift he came up with one year, was keeping the kids occupied while I slept in a wonderful luxury since the four of them were always up and ready to start their day at 7:00 am (!). Now that all of them are away at college, I still enjoy a romantic dinner (and no dishes) out and then a movie and fire in the fireplace! Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
ReplyDeleteI always love a sweet, intimate dinner with my husband, with flowers everywhere! Then, there is nothing better than to be with the man you love, and to show him just how much you desire him. He is always perfectly knowledgeable about how to make me very, very happy. What could be better than that? Love is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe're at the beach with friends and family -- going to eat shrimp dinners!
ReplyDeleteI can't say that I have ever had a bad Valentine gift. We tend not to exchange gifts on most holidays. We enjoy traveling so save up for trips. This year, Christmas, birthdays, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day are being combined for a 4 or 5 week trip. I will be going to the RT Convention, then we are spending the rest of the time traveling through the Southwest seeing those National Parks and other sites we missed when we lived in Colorado.
ReplyDeleteIt truly is the thought that counts.
I like flowers for Valentine's Day, they have way less calories. :D The worst gift I've gotten were some flowers that were all wilted, but it was still a thoughtful gift, so it was okay.
ReplyDeleteworst--guy I was seeing showed up when I got off work (grocery store when I was in college). he suggested we go out. we ended up at arby's and suddenly, I had to pay. relationship didn't last.
