Hot Dish

As I pondered how to start off a new year of Hot Dishes, my mind wondered back to my girlhood days. Thinking about the crushes I had as a girl brought a smile to face. Once particular crush has stayed with me throughout the years. It was the early 1980s when I first saw this gorgeous man. He was a young actor on a daytime soap opera and he took my breath away. It wasn't just that he was nice looking, had great hair and beautiful eyes. Nope, it was his smile that won me from the start. And that smile is still there. Personally, I believe that John Stamos has aged quite well!!!

So, dear reader, do you have a girlhood crush that still makes your heart beat a little faster? I would love to hear about it!

  1. My very first crush was actually a character from a book- Prince Caspian from the Narnia series. At the age of 9 I loved him so!
My first real-life crush was the English actor Michael Praed, who was playing Robin Hood in the TV series.... Swoooooon!

  6. I totally agree! I had a HUGE crush on John Stamos. I think I watched every episode of Full House just because he was on there. There was another movie he played in much later where he was the creepy bad guy. I couldn't watch it because there was no way I wanted that image in my head. :)

I have to admit up front, though, that my first crush was Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street. I still watch everything he's in. He has certainly aged well. ;)

  7. OK, I'm going to date myself with this, but here goes. I had a huge crush on Tony Dow on "Leave it to Beaver." What a hunk. I still remember watching that show and wanting to push the Beaver aside so I could see his older brother. Sigh..

  19. Actually, when I look back at my girlhood pop-star/actor crushes they just look so young now. And so many of the "hot guys" getting press these days also look so young. But John Stamos has certainly aged well!

  20. Buffie,
Medical Center was on from 1969 to 1976, so I'm guessing it was before your time. If you go to Google, then Images, and type in without quotation marks "chad everett medical center", you will see in the first picture what he looked like back then, and you will also see how well he has aged since then. I used to dream about him when I couldn't go to sleep quickly as a teenager.
Today's heart throbs are George Clooney and Mark Harmon, but some of the younger ones aren't too shabby either, LOL!

  21. John Stamos has aged very well indeed. In fact, I think he's much sexier now than in his younger years.

I crushed on Mark Harmon back before he began his acting career, when he played quarterback for UCLA. I'm still crushing on him now 40+ years later! ::grin::

  25. Haha, Buffie! Shary (my duaghter) saw John Stamos just last night on a commercial for Greek yogurt and she said, "Hey, he was on 'Full House'! He's still kinda cute for being old." ;) I remember him from when he was Blackie on 'General Hospital'.

I've stated this crush a dozen times.....Tom Selleck. Cute when laughing, handsome when serious, care-free attitude without being pompous, the way he wiggled his eyebrows (Magnum, P.I.), and that smile with those dimples in his cheeks. Ooh, he's still goodlooking, sigh.

  27. Oh, I love John Stamos! And I totally agree--the older he gets the better looking he gets. Same with Robert Downey, Jr.

Deb, my mom has always had the biggest crush on Tom Selleck, too!
