Cover Reveal & Giveaway - - The Rake's Daughter

Anyone who's been here for more than a minute knows that Anne Gracie is one of my favorite historical romance authors. Her humor, witty banter, emotional depth, and brilliantly-crafted, character-driven stories are always on my must-buy radar. Last summer, Gracie launched a new series with the release of The Scoundrel's Daughter, another keeper overflowing with passion, fully-dimensional characters, and feel-good romance (click to read PJ's 5-star review). This coming summer the second book in the series will be released and judging from the blurb below, it looks like I'll be once again reading late into the night. Take a look.

An earl is forced to play matchmaker for the daughters of a rake in a smart and witty new Regency romance from the national bestselling author of The Scoundrel’s Daughter.

Recently returned to England, Leo, the new Earl of Salcott, discovers he's been thrust into the role of guardian to an heiress, the daughter of a notorious rake. Even worse, his wealthy ward, Clarissa, has brought her half-sister, the beautiful but penniless Isobel, with her. Leo must find Clarissa a suitable husband, but her illegitimate half sister, Izzy, is another matter. Her lowly birth makes her quite unacceptable to London’s aristocratic circles.

However, the girls are devoted to each other and despite the risk of scandal if Izzy’s parentage is discovered, they refuse to be separated. To Leo’s frustration nothing will convince them otherwise. Even worse, sparks fly every time Leo and Izzy interact.

Called away to his country estate, Leo instructs the young ladies to stay quietly at home. But when he returns, he's infuriated to discover that Izzy and Clarissa have launched themselves into society — with tremendous success! There's no going back. Now Leo must enter society to protect Clarissa from fortune hunters, and try not to be driven mad by the sharp-witted, rebellious, and intoxicating Izzy.

  1. I absolutely love Anne Gracie's books. Her Chance Sisters and Marry in Secrets series are among my favorites, but she never disappoints. And I had the good fortune to meet her once at a convention, and she's a delight in person, as well.

  2. I haven't read any of her books that I am aware of but covers make a big difference in whether or not I will read or buy a book. It's too bad because we all know we shouldn't "judge a book by its cover" but if it's a certain type of artwork or typeface that I don't like or associate with something else, I do.

  3. I have enjoyed her stories. My favorite is usually the one I'm currently reading :) There are some covers I shy away from unless it's a well known author. I don't usually like the cutesy ones (I'm not one for a lot of humor, just some).

  4. I haven't yet read Anne's books but hope to remedy that soon. Covers are what attract me to read the blurb about the book.

  5. Anne's novels are captivating and wonderful. I enjoy all of them. Covers are important but don't always influence me when I have read the author.

  6. Anne Gracie's books are always unforgettable and special. When a cover depicts the story I enjoy the artwork but it is because of the writer that I read the book.

  7. It doesn't, usually, but an especially eye-catching one might garner a second glance!

  9. Thanks for the terrific post. Covers are nice but not the only thing which sells me a book. The author is more of a selling point for me.

I am a huge fan of Ms Gracie. I have liked every one of her books which I've read. My favorite series is the Brides of the Seasons. Or if I think too long I can't have an absolute favorite, 'cause I like them all.

I hope everyone is well and safe and happy.

  10. I read one of Anne Gracie's books and enjoyed it. I think good covers can draw a reader to a new author, but they're not as important to established authors.

  11. I love Anne Gracie's books/stories. I own all but the latest, including How the Sheriff Was Won. Covers matter, but only up to a point. It's the story and author who are most important.

  12. I've read a few and absolutely loved them! I haven't bought a book just because of the cover, but I'll admit to not reading about books to and considering buying them because the cover turned me off so much.

  13. So far my favorite book of hers is Marry in Haste. I really need to read the rest of that series.
As for covers, I have to admit that I have been turned off by some covers.

  15. I haven’t read anything by this author yet, but this book sounds lovely! If I know I like an author, I’m likely to buy their book regardless of the cover. For new-to-me authors, though, aesthetically pleasing or eye-grabbing covers are more likely to make me take a risk on buying a book that I’m not as familiar with, particularly if it’s in print.

  16. I have read a few of her books and enjoyed the fully. I enjoy her well drawn characters, her sense of humor, and story development.
A cover I like will draw me to a book to read the blurb. I like subtle covers like this one.
Thank you for letting us know she has a new book in this series coming out.
