Introducing our Top Dish
Some of you may notice a difference with the rating in my review of The Black Hawk by Joanna Bourne. It's 5 stars plus the Top Dish symbol. With our second anniversary approaching, the Dishes realized that there are some books that go above and beyond 5 stars, those extra special keepers that stay with us long after we turn the last page. So we came up with the new Top Dish rating.
We realize that there have been a few books we have reviewed in the past that probably would have received this rating, but we never discussed this until now. Now when you see this rating, you'll know how special we think these books are.

A great idea!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes a book comes along that literally knocks your socks off and deserves a double WOW! Glad to hear you did that and what an amazing compliment to the author. In addition, that gives other authors the incentive to really shoot for the stars!
ReplyDeleteSuper idea!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteSome books are definite 'never will get rid of' ones, 'shelf-warmers' as I sometimes call them.
This is such a nice way to praise book's that you find are outstanding........stars and your logo!
WTG Dishes!! :-)
Thanks, Marybelle.

ReplyDeleteConnie, I love those books! :-)
Thank you, girlygirl!
ReplyDeleteWTG Dishes!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely compliment, Dalila.
Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. Every now and then there is a special book that you really want to bring attention to. It's just too bad that there's nowhere on your site that can reference all the books that will eventually fall into this category.
ReplyDeleteVery clever idea, and I love anything written by Bourne too.
ReplyDeleteHi Dishes, I love this idea and can see from the responses you have received so far that many others feel the same. Those rare books that stay in your heart and mind and then on your shelves to be enjoyed again and again deserve an additional award that acknowledges their unique stand out quality. Great minds, great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThat's so true - there are books you really like and then there are books you love so much that you tell other people about them and get all excited when the author puts another one out. I think I should start a Top Dish TBR list. Maybe you could make a special link to attach these too for us.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we are starting to use TOP DISH. And it sounds like everyone else is glad too :-)

ReplyDeletePenfield, if you click on "Top Dish" under the BOOKS REVIEWED heading in our sidebar, if will take you to all reviews with the Top Dish label.

ReplyDeleteDi, we hadn't planned to unveil our Top Dish until Anniversary Week so I hadn't added the link to the site yet. However, The Black Hawk was just too good to let slip by so we introduced Top Dish a little early (and I didn't have time to get the link added until this afternoon). If you'll look under BOOKS REVIEWED in our sidebar, you'll see "Top Dish" is at the bottom of the list. Clicking on it will bring up a list of all reviews that earn this designation from us.
Hope that helps! :)
I'm so excited for this because I just finished a book that is worthy of this status!! It is now my top read of the year. Terrific book. Review to come next Thursday...
ReplyDeleteGood idea. Never hurts to mark things as extra special.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and not surprised Bourne made the list.
