Today we have award-winning paranormal and historical author Monica Burns with us to dish about her upcoming blog extravaganza that will happen over at her personal blog. Believe me, you don't want to miss it! So, without further ado, take it away, Monica...
A huge thanks to the Romance Dish ladies for their kindness in letting me pop in here today with a major dessert for all of you who love historicals. Authors are always looking for new ways promote their books, and I needed a doozie to celebrate my March release, Pleasure Me.
I wanted something that wouldn’t break my budget, would get Garrick and Ruth (Pleasure Me’s hero/heroine) the attention they deserved, and would keep readers interested. I needed something big. Now if I’d won the recent Megamillions lottery, I would have bought up 50 percent of my upcoming print run and given away the books until they were gone. I figure the best way to find readers is to give away books. Naturally, I didn’t win the lottery (or at least I hadn’t at the time of writing this post).
So there I sat with a book about a older courtesan with a younger hero who just happens to be a virgin. What’s an author to do other than post the first three chapters on her website? It was a major conundrum. Then it hit me. What if... (Two words authors love!)…what if I hosted a blog party with guest authors, daily giveaways, and at the end of the bash give away a nice prize. Okay, that would work, but that wasn’t any different than the usual parties I’ve attended.
One finger tapping at my brow the light bulb suddenly came on. The lineup had to be stellar and it had to be completely devoted to historical authors. So I set to work inviting historical authors I know and those I didn’t. NYT best selling author Sabrina Jeffries was my first confirmed author and I was elated. I’ve know Sabrina for a while, and her book Pirate Lord is a keeper on my shelf. With Sabrina in my corner, I decided to be even more daring. I wanted one of my favorite historical authors ever to join me, but I was extremely nervous at reaching out her, but boy was I glad I did.
Jayne Ann Krentz, aka Amanda Quick, graciously agreed to a question/answer interview that is wonderful. It’s going to be spread out over two different posts because there were tons of questions I gathered from readers.
From there my invitations rolled out and almost every author responded that they’d be delighted to come help me celebrate Pleasure Me’s release. The event was suppose to last only 25 days, but I ended up with almost 40 days worth of guests blogging about romance. That’s right! Almost forty days of historical romance on one blog. I’m calling it the Pleasure Me With Romance blog event. Cute right? It’s a take off …right you get it.
The Pleasure Me With Romance event runs from January 17, 2011 through March 1, 2011. As I mentioned I have an interview with Jayne Ann Krentz , Sabrina Jeffries will visit as will best selling authors such as Sarah MacLean, Lisa Valdez, Hannah Howell, Julianne MacLean, Lucy Monroe, Lorraine Heath and many more of your favorite historical authors. So check out all the details at http://monicaburns.blogspot.com/p/pleasure-me-with-romance-blog-event_28.html
I hope you’ll join me as I kick off Pleasure Me’s releases with my friends and historical authors that I love to read. Besides, there’s this totally awesome Spa grand prize filled with lots of decadent products to pamper yourself with!
So tell me what you think of a party which is dedicated strictly to one subgenre of romance?

Pleasure Me
by Monica Burns
A courtesan afraid of true love…
And a gentleman ashamed of his true nature.
Youth and beauty are a courtesan’s greatest assets. At forty-one, Lady Ruth Attwood appears to have lost both, as her latest lover just abandoned her for a younger mistress. Struggling with the knowledge that she’s no longer considered desirable, she’s uncertain whether to be offended or flattered when a younger man makes her an unusual offer. In need of funds, she agrees. But then she does the unthinkable. She falls in love.
Despite his reputation as a man’s man, Baron Garrick Stratfield has never been with a woman. His physical impairment is such that he knows not even a whore will touch him, and he needs a mistress who’s willing to be kept without sharing his bed. But passion is just a delicious kiss away because his new mistress is wreaking havoc with his senses. Worse yet, someone is not only out to ruin his reputation, but frame him for murder.

This sounds like an interesting variation on the courtesan theme as well as the older woman-younger man story line. You have dropped enough hints about other aspects of the story to intrigue us.
ReplyDeleteYour planned event sounds like a fun and interesting way to launch PLEASURE ME.
