I have held you at night for ten years and I didn't even know your name. We have a child together. A dog, a house.

Who are you?

Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she's told them about herself is a lie.
And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn’t really exist. Even her name isn’t real.
When the very darkest moments of Emma’s past finally emerge, she must somehow prove to Leo that she really is the woman he always thought she was . . .
But first, she must tell him about the other love of her life.

PJ's Thoughts:

I started reading this book in bed last night. It was a bit slow at first and I figured I'd try to get in a couple chapters before going to sleep. It wasn't long before the author began dropping little bits here and there that snagged my interest. Then a few more bits that gradually drew me deeper into the lives of these characters. Then the first twist that had me thinking, "Whoa! What's going on here?" By that time the first few chapters were in my rearview and I was hooked. There was no way I was going to be putting this book down until I hit the final word. It was a late night. ;-)

The Love of My Life is compelling, poignant, twisty, mysterious, suspenseful, emotional, gripping, and heartachingly real. Brilliantly plotted, with fully-developed characters who tugged at my heart, it's an intricately-woven story that kept me on my toes. Each time I thought I had figured out what was going on, there was another unexpected twist that had me gasping with surprise. It's an immersive experience that pushed my buttons in all the best ways and it never stopped surprising me, right up until the final page. When I say I couldn't put it down, I mean it. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

The Love of My Life is Rosie Walsh's second published novel. I haven't read her first, Ghosted, yet but you can be sure I'll be giving it a go...along with every book she writes in the future. This is an author to watch.

  2. I love to read suspense thrillers. This sounds like a really good book. Lisa Jackson has always been my go to.

  3. That's why I always stay with a book, a lot of times the slower starting ones end up the most exciting. I do love thrillers and suspense - I like the not knowing and being surprised. There are just too many books that I say one more chapter, one more chapter lol. This sounds good. And I have too many favorites lol.

  4. Oh my goodness that book sounds good! I think Verity was the last book that kept me up, but it wasn't one that left me with delight at the end. This site is called the Romance Dish, PJ, so please tell us the ending will be okay?! And oh dear, my library puts me at #55 in the queue!

  6. I'm not in the US, so don't count me, but strangely enough I finished her first book, The Man Who Didn't Call (the one called "Ghosted" out there?) and I did NOT see the main twist coming. For me, the first half of that book was more interesting than after the twist. I will look out for this one!

  7. Marriage in peril novels are captivating and intriguing. The last book which kept me up all night was Tin Camp Road. I enjoy mysteries and thrillers. I have many favorite authors who write amazing mysteries.

  9. Reading thrillers and mysteries is always enjoyable and experiencing a new storyline that grabs you. So many wonderful authors but Lisa Barr is fabulous. The Next Flight was amazing.

  10. I don't read a lot of suspense, but if the storyline grabs me, I will. And this was certainly does. My library has Ghosted, so will definitely read that one as well. I know my daughter will love this one as well.

  11. Oh, this sounds good! I've just recently added thriller/suspense/romance to my TBR, and I'm really enjoying them. In fact, I'm currently reading an arc of "Dead Wind" from Tessa Wegert, the third in a suspense/romance series.

  15. What a high recommendation for this book. I haven't read late into the night for a long time, and sadly can't remember the last book that kept me up. It has happened quite a few times. I like both suspense thrillers and mysteries, with suspense thrillers being a favorite. I enjoy Katie Ruggle, Iris Johansen, Lisa Gardner are a few I enjoy. I will have to give Rosie Walsh a try.
I enjoy marriage in peril stories depending on the reason there are issues.
