New Releases for October

PJ, Gannon, Buffie, and I had a wonderful time at the Moonlight & Magnolias conference in Atlanta last weekend! We got to see many of our favorite authors and reader friends and met some lovely ladies for the first time. There were a lot of great workshops and the booksigning was a huge success. We offer heartfelt congratulations to the Maggie winners and finalists! A good time was had by all and many thanks to the Georgia Romance Writers chapter for putting it on!

October is the start of the holiday season and it’s obvious from the number of Christmas-themed stories releasing this month. I haven’t read any of those (yet!), but I have read Animal Attraction by Jill Shalvis—which I loved!—and Flawless by Carrie Lofty—which is a terrific start to her new Christie Family series! I am currently reading In Total Surrender by Anne Mallory and it looks to be another keeper from Anne! I’m looking forward to Slow Ride by Erin McCarthy, A Beginner’s Guide to Rakes by Suzanne Enoch, and Bad Boys Do by Victoria Dahl.

Which October releases have you read? Of those, which ones do you recommend? Which ones are you most looking forward to reading? Also, do you like to read Christmas-themed stories? Tell us and one lucky commenter will win a random book from my prize stash!

Until November, happy reading!

  3. I have not started on my list from September yet. Probably not even August. I can't complain though. It's great to have so much choice.

  4. Sigh...So many books, so little time! I know I've said it before, but it is really true; I read
A LOT, but there is never enough time to read everything I'd like to.

I'm going to take a longer look at the October releases before I make my picks. As for Christmas amd Christmas stories; I love them and I don't even celebrate the holiday! I enjoy both the books and the holiday because they reflect joy and warmth of the humal spirit. One of my favorites is Stephanie Laurens' Cynster prequel "The Promise in a Kiss."

  5. I have read In Pursuit of Eliza Cynster which I enjoyed much more than the first in the series.

I read The Captain's Forbidden Miss, it was a while ago, but from what I remember I enjoyed it.

I do like Christmas stories and there's a couple on your list that are on my wishlist.

I'm looking forward to reading Season for Temptation and A Beginner's Guide to Rakes.

  6. I have a massive soft spot for Christmas stories. I even store them in the attic until November. Then I cannot wait to bring my collection down and place stacks around the tree. Nothing like sitting on the couch next to those flickering lights, wrapped in a quilt reading some of your fav books :D

Some I'm dying to read are:

His Mistress by Christmas – Victoria Alexander,

    A Lawman’s Christmas – Linda Lael Miller,

It Happened One Christmas – Kaitlin O’Riley

& all the other holiday stories out this month :D

  7. I haven't gotten to any of them yet but there are several (more and more as time goes on) authors that are must buys for me.

I have been reading Victoria Alexander for years, way before I could get to all this info, that book will be in my possession as soon as pay day gets here.

Stephanie Laurens, Julianne MacLean, Anne Mallory, and Suzanne Enoch are all auto buys just to name a few. Must go work on my book budget, October is going to be a good one.

  8. Andrea, you're actually reading October releases in October? Wow, you're way ahead of me. I'm pretty much always behind. *sigh*

I enjoyed M&M, too. Seeing the Dishers is always a pleasure.

Thanks for the great list. I try to pick up at least one Christmas- themed story every year.

Seduction of a Highland Lass is next up on my reading list. I plan to counter a crazy week at work by relaxing on the back deck this weekend with Maya Banks and her "men in trews." ;-)

  14. Already read Suzanne Enoch's new one - great characters! Lots to look forward to in romance reading.... I really don't like Christmas themed books. I don't mind a holiday scene in a book, but not the whole theme.

  15. I love Christy reece. Can't wait for sweet revenge. I don't usually read Christmas theme book, unless they are by a favorite author.

  54. I have heard good things about Seduction of a Highland Lass. Now we all know I dont' do historicals but I saw the 1st one of the trilogy and bought that one so this one is next if I like the 1st one. I was at BN and was going to get the Susan Anderson book UNTIL I opened it and discovered it is a re-issue. WHY CAN'T AUTHORS LET YOU KNOW IT IS A REISSUE??? That makes me mad because if I bought it I would have taken it back there should be something on the cover or when they are sending out their blogs tell someone....
