It's a busy first holiday weekend in September. People in the U.S. and Canada are celebrating Labor Day weekend and, in some states, getting ready to return to school.
For our Jewish friends, Rosh Hashanah begins at Sundown, Monday. I wish you all a good year!
And, I'm kicking off week two of my big birthday month!
Do you have any special plans for this holiday weekend? Have you scheduled in any time for reading? What's next up on your tbr shelf?

We're dog-sitting while our kids are out having fun on a camping trip. That gives me time to catch up on some NetGalley titles. This weekend will be Brenda Novak's Keep Me Warm at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
Sounds like a relaxing weekend, Mary. What are you watching on Netflix?
DeleteI started watching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. Its entertaining and I like the stars. Also caught up with Nine Perfect Strangers (very trippy) but addictive.
DeleteThe whole family is coming over today for a football-watching party. Go Dawgs!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for a more exciting second half!
DeleteI will be spending time with the family on Sunday and Monday which I look forward to very much. Walks, picnics in the park and then reading in the evening. I am starting The Perfume Thief which sounds captivating and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely way to spend the holiday.
DeleteWe celebrated my grandson's 4th birthday yesterday. my daughter is having a bigger one on sunday but due to my husband's health we won't be going to that one. Oh, I'll definitely be reading. A friend lent me Speaks the Nightbird by Robert McCammon - an 800 page historical.
ReplyDeleteFour is such a fun age! My great-granddaughter turns five on Tuesday.
DeleteThe weekend will be lovely and filled with sunshine, fun time with the little ones and reading which is always a pleasure. I am reading Cul-de-Sac and will finish shortly and will begin Dark Road by Chevy Stevens.
ReplyDeleteTwo titles for me to check out!
DeleteAll will be quiet in my house this Labor Day. Don't go out traveling anyplace anymore. Stay home and read. Another big Happy Birthday PJ! Great idea to celebrate all month long.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. I haven't traveled in 18 months. I sure do miss it.
DeleteI'm not sure what'll I'll be reading later. I have lots to choose from though. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteToo many books, not enough time is definitely not a bad place to be. ;-)
DeleteThe best thing about a holiday weekend is having extra time to read 😆 I’m planning to read some romcoms this weekend — most likely Love & Other Disasters by Anita Kelly (currently Read Now on Netgalley for anyone so inclined!)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday & have a great holiday weekend!
Thanks for the NetGalley shout-out for Love & Other Disasters. I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteI have had chores to do today....and after today, I am going to be a reading machine. I have so many books I want to read. I have arranged things so that for at least 3 days of the holiday will be devoted to reading...except when I have to walk my dog, and fix something for the two of us to eat. He is easy....same old - same old. For me, I am gonna be as easy as I can be for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone who is celebrating the holiday has a safe and well and very happy time.
An easy weekend filled with books and a dog to cuddle with makes my heart happy. Enjoy!
DeleteNow, I would like to say, that the picture is a real cutie patootie. You look like such a sweetie and I love the curls. I have hair that is straight as a stick and I always wanted to look like you - curls and sweet smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Thanks! All those curls were natural. I'm sure there were many times when my mom wished I had been born with straight hair. lol
DeleteNothing big going on except college football season starts. Gonna cheer for our teams!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season!
Deletecontinuing to work on going thru so much stuff in my house for an eventual sale & move - today I found a 1934 movie theatre playbill with the added attraction of Laurel and Hardy in 'Live Ghosts' - so interesting how things were done a long time ago - maybe do a zoom with family for my birthday on Monday
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're finding some treasures, Di. I hope you're moving somewhere fun.
DeleteI had carpal tunnel surgery on Friday, so I'm not doing much this weekend. Older daughter, her hubby, and g-baby might join us for dinner on Sunday. I'm catching up on reviews in between resting my hand. My tbr list is endless so of course I'm reading. Happy Birthday PJ!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a restful weekend, Eileen and a smooth, stress-free recovery!
DeleteOur nephews are grilling and we are just going to spend some family time together. Next on my TBR is Playing It Safe by Amy Andrews.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday PJ!
I love Amy Andrews. Enjoy your family time and the book!
DeleteHave a happy weekend, everyone!!! Reading, drinking coffee, laughing at my cats, cooking and eating, watching Hallmark, Turner Classic Movies, The Food Network, Discovery ID, and Oxygen. I have new cookbooks and contemporary and historical fiction to read.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun time!
DeleteI hope you have a great birthday week! No plans besides reading and relaxing for me!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is coming home from college. So excited to have my shopping partner back.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Hope you have an enjoyable visit.
DeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteNo plans. I try to read a little bit, if not more, every day.
denise
Happy reading weekend!
DeleteHave a wonderful happy birthday
ReplyDeletePenney
Thanks, Penney. I have a few weeks to go yet but this year I'm celebrating for the whole month. I figure I've earned it. ;-)
DeleteNo plans at all. Just a regular weekend for me. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteStaying home - trying to catch up on some yard work! Just got through reading A Good Day for Chardonnay by Darynda Jones. Another awesome book by her! I think I'm going to start on Sally Kilpatrick's Bless Her Heart, which looks to really great,
ReplyDelete"A Reckless Match" by Kate Bateman is up next for me on my TBR! Just started it and it's so good!!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I are trying to get in some short hikes and time in Grand Tetons National Park.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is elderly and I have not seen her very often in recent years, especially during the last year and a half. I will be spending time with her and the rest of the family this weekend. It will be a time filled with food, chat and relaxation. I tend to read a bit each night before bed and the book I am currently reading is Linda Howard’s Kiss Me While I Sleep. It was one of the books at Mom’s house. Truthfully, I don’t have another book in mind to read but expected to search the shelves again when I finish this one.
ReplyDeleteActually hoping to do as little as possible this weekend. Monday night is the beginning of Rosh Hashana so I get a 4 day weekend (yay)! I'll be cooking for the holiday and hopefully watching lots of TV and reading...plus the gym (of course). I'm currently reading The Women of Chateau Lafayette in hardback and Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty on audiobook in my car.
ReplyDeleteThere's ALWAYS time for reading ;)
ReplyDeleteWe planned on a relaxed weekend at home. That didn't last. Got a call at 7:30 Sunday morning for a Red Cross disaster response to an 8 apartment fire. Got home after noon to finish cooking breakfast and just chilled the rest of the day. Tomorrow we will work in the gardens and on Red Cross programs. We are Bar-B-Qing ribs which had been the plan for today.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great, relaxed long weekend.
Yes I'm in Maryland. Can't wait for the ocean views
