This weekend kicked off my favorite season of the year. It's time for college football! I've been glued to the TV all weekend, cheering my favorite teams, gently booing a few others, and over the moon with excitement that football is back to brighten my weekends.
Tonight is the game I've been most eager to watch. It's Florida State vs Notre Dame, a night game in Tallahassee, with a military flyover led by a soon to be retiring pilot who's a FSU grad, a memorial tribute to legendary coach - and even more legendary person - Bobby Bowden, and a stadium filled with cheering fans. Advance apologies to anyone who is within hearing distance of my condo. I'm gonna be loud. ;-)

Do you enjoy sports-themed romances? Who are your favorite authors or book series in that genre?
If you're not on the football bandwagon, what activities rev your enthusiasm engine? Another sport? Gardening? Cooking? Knitting? Maybe reading???
One of you, randomly chosen, who posts a comment before 11:00 PM, September 7 will receive a signed, print copy of Just for Kicks by Tracy Solheim. It's the first book in her new Milwaukee Growlers Football, contemporary romance series. Click to read my review.

I like watching the Superbowl. But baseball is my sport of choice; My Dodgers are in the thick of a pennant race, big game today.
ReplyDeleteLove reading, my Dodgers, and baking. Would really love to win this book, covers one of my favorite genres - sports contemp romance. Thanks so much for the chance.
Good luck to your Dodgers!
DeleteI love football! I do prefer college ball but enjoy the NFL games too. The only team I'm invested in winning is Texas A&M. Honestly, there are some NFL teams that I root against because of certain players - and TBH a couple of colleges that I dislike because of things they've done or not done in the name of sports. I enjoy sports romances as well!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY and Happy Start of College Football!!
I'm like that with some NFL teams too. ;-)
DeleteI love traveling, cooking, decorating for the holidays. But only one sport interested in and it is baseball. I love reading all types of books so would be very happy to win this. I have read several sports related stories but only Jill Shalvis comes to mind. She had one or 2 I think.

I was a much bigger baseball fan when I was young but I still watch every now and then.
DeleteWe are big college football fans. Our team the Georgia Bulldogs got a big win over Clemson last night. I do like sports romances, especially Football. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has a great sseries set in the pro football world.
ReplyDeleteI will be cheering for Florida State tonight!
Thanks, Cheryl! Congrats on the big Georgia win last night.
DeleteI like sport romances. My favorite is Until You by Jeannie Moon. Highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that one out. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteI like the pro football and love the baseball Dodgers
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday
Penney
Love romances and knitting and crocheting, Penney
DeleteMy mom used to crochet like the wind.
DeleteI was raised on college football (U/Pitt) but now I live outside Boston and my husband is a Patriots fan. I don't care for sports but I enjoy figure skating.
ReplyDeleteI am a football fan. My youngest brother got a football scholarship for kicking, and barefoot, I could get more distance than he could....but he was more accurate.
ReplyDeleteI have favorite teams in high school, college and the NFL. And I am glad there will be a good salute to Bobby Bowden. I live in Texas, so I am a fan of The Cowboys, but also the Houston Texans. I went to SMU,so a fan. live in Austin, so, UT is another favorite.
And there are a couple of high school teams I like. In short, I am a sports nut and football is one of my favorites.
Hope everyone is well and safe and happy.
I am a fanatic about watching the Sacramento Kings and NBA basketball!! lindaherold999(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteVery happy birthday, PJ!!
ReplyDeleteAs for football, we cheer for the local teams (the Forty Niners and Stanford), but I LOVE sports romances! Some fave sports romance authors besides Tracy include SEP, Beth Bolden, Kelly Jamieson, Mira Lyn Kelly, Kate Willoughby, Amy Andrews, Jennifer Bernard, Juliana Keyes...
I love some crafty activities too, but don't think I've read a crochet romance yet ;)
I am not a football fan though I enjoy reading sports romances. It is fun to get a bit of inside view into the various sports. My own enthusiastic pursuits lean towards cooking, crafting and gardening.
ReplyDeleteWe watch The Fighting Illini and Notre Dame on the college side. Da Bears on the pro side. Watching my Bears some Fbombs will surely drop. My kids friends never believed that I would do that. Hubby like to go watch high school football. I think Jami Davenport writes some of the sports books, whether it is football, hockey or baseball.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm a fan...my late little sister and late husband got MD hooked. The Seahawks are "our" team! Sports romances are just about the best trope there is ! These books got me reading Tracey Solheim 💕💕
ReplyDeleteI am a college football fan! I cheer on any of the SEC teams, but the Florida Gators is my team. I used to work for UF and went to all the home games.
ReplyDeleteSEC: Roll Tide Roll! We also follow the Fightin' Blue Hens. My pro team is the EAGLES!

I only watch college football when it's Army vs Navy. My pro team is the San Francisco 49ers. I also love hockey themed sports books .
ReplyDeleteI love watching football - college and pro. As a Big 10 college grad, they are my favorite teams to cheer and boo. Notre Dame was a rival to my Purdue, at least in the 70's, so I always boo them.
ReplyDeleteI love football, mostly College. Love Iowa Hawkeyes. Also love the Dallas Cowboys.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sport is Hockey. And absolutely love sport themed stories.love
We prefer college football. Afraid we are backers of the Seminoles' arch rivals, the Gators. My husband is a UF graduate, from way back when in the 60's. We now live in TN which makes it a bi difficult at game time since the Vols really do not like the Gators. Seems a TN golden boy, Steve Spurrier, chose to attend UF rather than UT and then become their coach. We live near his home town and it got really nasty at game time. The rivalry is still there, but now that Spurrier is gone, it isn't as intense. We also enjoy the military academy games. We were lucky enough to live in Colorado Springs and could attend the AF Academy games for 3 years.
ReplyDeleteI have read some good sports romances, but they are not usually the first I look for. Oddly enough, I have learned to enjoy watching golf on TV. My husband plays and watched. It sort of grew on me. Other pastimes include reading, of course, cooking, gardening, and travel (which of course we have not been able to do for over a year). We have a trip planned for Oct. for a funeral & internment delayed because of COVID. It will give us a chance to visit family we haven't seen in at least 2 years. We have decided to take our RV so we can remain isolated in our own bubble as much as possible.
I've never been a big football fan, but I do follow (and watch) the college team where my son is currently attending, Auburn University.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never been big on watching football, but I’ll watch high school and college football. My husband cheers for the Arkansas Razorbacks, as he is an alumni from their band.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I’ve always loved reading sports romances!! Something about them always gets me! 😂😊
I love college football, especially watching my Wisconsin Badgers! We had a tough loss this weekend to Penn State.
ReplyDeleteI like to garden and read. I do like to watch the superbowl.
ReplyDeleteI grew up HATING the sound of football on tv but somehow or other fell headfirst in love with SEP's football books. Then my son bamboozled me into paying attention to his team, the Green Bay Packers, and so I now grudgingly, have to call myself a fan. I also LOVE Sarina Bowen's hockey books.
